Looking back to 2014 & seeing this recent purge of players this offseason it really brings into focus how Macc was left a steaming pile of fetid garbage by the past 2 regimes. I read these boards & I see the frustration of Jet fans with Maccagnon and it brings me back to 2014 when I reported here that my nephew had gotten an internship as trainer with the Jets that summer in Cortland. I'm not gonna rehash everything, but my nephew has been a Jet fan since my brother & I would bring him, my son, and his older brother to Hofstra to Jets camps for years. He said Amaro didn't even look like a football player & was slow and out of shape (I posted that here), he had a lot to say about Geno (posted that here). The one thing he said to me after that summer was "I don't even LIKE this team", ouch! I was like what happened & he explained to me from Rex down, this team was just a group of punks. He said it was like frat house. The players ruled the asylum & most were not nice people. The head trainers down. He even said Mangold was acting like a jerk which shocked me. He actually said that Mo Wilkerson was by far the nicest player. The Jets under Rex Ryan were a rudderless ship after that veteran team dissolved. We had older players who were no longer pro bowlers strutting around like superstars, younger players who had done sh*t & thought they were great, bad attitudes from top to bottom. Then Macc had to use the scouts the Jets had in place for his 2015 draft. I know a lot of you are losing patience with Macc, but damn, there was a lot of stink to be cleared out of this place. Probably one of the worst situations in football really other than the Browns. My point is this. I f*cking hated the 2016 Jets! I hated them like my nephew hated the 2014 Jets. I had never seen so many quitters, from Revis on down to Fitz and Marshall. If we go 5-11 but I see guys flying around enthusiastically and some of these young guys develop, its all I can ask for. Maccs made some mistakes as have ALL GMs, but hes setting us up for another draft, after taking out the garbage and until he has a QB of the future to run this show it will never be easy, but at least I can hopefully say I like my team & the effort they showed which starts this Sunday. Go Jets.

Dice I missed that post - I'm sorry. I've also experienced a lot of loss the last couple years after going 40 years without losing anyone close to me. It's an awful feeling. I understand your desire to want to play mafia to do ANYTHING that might get you to stop thinking about it for a minute. I'll go back to my schtick because I think you want to see everyone doing "their thing" but know you have my condolences man.

We'd all be more sympathetic if his drafts and FA acquisitions were anything to get excited about. The best compliments I've seen that people can come up with is the sentiment that he isn't as bad as Idzik. Talk about grading on a curve! On top of the cap flexibility and high draft picks that incoming GMs drool over, he was also dealt arguably the best young DL in football (certainly for 3-man lines). 3 stud young DLmen, all still on their rookie contracts, and the 2 better + more talented of the 3 are gone now. The 3rd one was skipping and showing up late to meetings, and picking up most of his sacks in garbage time, and he was rewarded with 2 guaranteed seasons on a $17m/yr contract. He unnecessarily loses one of them for a bottom 3rd round compensatory pick - and he only got that much because another one of his terrible UFA pickups was so atrocious and useless that he could justify cutting him midseason after paying him $3m. He gave up another, also for the value of a bottom 3rd rounder, because he used a #6 overall pick to only marginally increase the talent level of the already-stacked DL. In effect, we traded the 6th overall pick for a late 3rd round pick and some temporary cap space. Maccagnan is wholly undeserving of any sympathy whatsoever when he's done such an embarrassingly poor job in his own right. Never in the history of the NFL has a team been 1000:1 odds to win the superbowl. Not in year 1 with the team he inherited, but rather it's in year 3 after dishing out $200m in new veteran contracts, 22 draft picks of his own, on top of another dozen that he's surrendered for others' veterans. So yeah, he does suck. Very much so.

As opposed to those sturdy Gen-Y farmhands who built this nation while simultaneously trying to outwit Klacko in an internet chat room game that works suspiciously like Spin the Bottle, but is played alone, sitting in a dark room, waiting for a pizza that you'll try to pay for with expired coupons that you xeroxed at the library.

Had a similar situation during Hurricane Sandy. The despicable losers that work for me wanted to leave early to protect their children or some sh*t, so I took one of the interns out to the company fountain and drowned him in front of everyone. After he stopped twitching, I looked my staff in the eye and said, simply, "Loyalty."

Revis was all Woody. No way a novice GM gets clearance to give a guy 18 million other than a QB. Marshall played well in 2015, but hes a bad influence on a losing squad, a lot of Diva vets are. He had to bring Fitz back we've gone over that ad nauseum. Maccs guys, lol. Now that he has some youth sprinkled into the squad lets see how he approaches free agency next year. Even the Vets he inherited like Harris & Mangold were finished. Sorry, I'm giving him another year & so is Woody. You cant keep clearing house & need some stability. I think his job is completely safe & should be.

Maybe. But whenever the decline comes....I'll be waiting with a sh*t eating grin on my face. Can not stand when people like him cheat the sport. He's become the Lance Armstrong of the NFL. Brady's whole career is about taking advantage of the loopholes, weakspots, rules manipulations, pushing the boundries of the rules etc... Everything he and Belly stand for is built around gaming the system. Impossible to respect that imo. I am honestly so glad Belly left us. I couldn't stand it if my team's identity was synonymous with cheating. Honestly, I'd rather be exactly the hapless losers that we are right now than a tainted, winning organization.

Amazing cfb matchups tonight. Currently watching the battle of the tigers, waiting for 7 vs. 3, and then Darnold at 830 vs. a legit team. Not sure I can remember this many good non-conference games on the same day (+ the future top 3 pick ). Sending the mrs out with her friends, Saturday is the new Sunday since the jets are an abomination.

He was asking why I shouldn't be discussed. I think it's a fair question, and, while I appreciate the defense, at this point, I've done nothing to earn the benefit of the doubt of not being talked about. Seems pretty Towny of LZM to question your questioning of me being brought up. And I'm not retarded. I'm sleepy. I figured that would be something you'd empathize with. Jerk.

Scouting the qbs for next year thread

Watching Lamar Jackson against No. Carolina and he's a tough projection to the next level: Pro - He's an electric athlete with a big arm and terrific speed - Good accuracy on deep vertical throws Con - He's in a "gimmick" offense where he never calls a play or huddles. So you have to project if he can call a play, take a snap from center, make progressions when passing or set protections - Very scrawny frame - He looks to run entirely too much opening himself up to punishment - His athletic ability deceives him into making bad decisions when under pressure in the pocket. Which leads to putting the ball in harms way - Accuracy on intermediate throws isn't great

Man I cannot stand this line of thinking. Joe Paterno is also from a generation that thought it was ok to deny humans in America their basic civil rights & if those same humans dared resist, killing them (even by blowing up their churches as they prayed) was a viable option. Women shouldn't take part in voting, working, or sticking up for themselves once abused (since you know, they needed some correcting once in a while). Animals could be abused by humans and no one should give a damn, and children could be beaten without mercy because "Father knows best." Child rape has been going on since antiquity, but his generation just randomly couldn't fathom that some men like to fiddle a kid a or two. Weren't men of his generation marrying girls while they were still attending high school? They could do all that brutal sh!t to other Americans, but at a perverted adult preying on kids. Let's stop romanticizing old people as some naive relics of the past. The same nasty dirty thoughts we've had, our parents & grandparents had them, no matter how extreme, and every generation has had their fair share of vices and skeletons. And if by 2001 Paterno still couldn't wrap his feeble mind around the rape of a child at his ripe old age, that says even worse about him and his employer.

Ya you have to have really thick rose color glasses on to think Joe didn't know... A coworker of mine is a huge Penn state fan, and he defended Joe Pa for months... But one day he finally dropped his fanaticism and said he realized Joe must have known. He looked at everything from an outside perspective and saw that the evidence was pretty overwhelming.

This is what Rotoworld actually said; ESPN New York expects WR ArDarius Stewart to be a Week 1 inactive. This would be surprising with Stewart coming off a strong preseason. The Jets added middling veterans Jermaine Kearse and Jeremy Kerley behind Robby Anderson, but there's a top-four role for Stewart with Jalin Marshall suspended. It's possible Stewart's lack of special teams value will make him a healthy scratch. Just because Dick Cimini thinks so, doesn't necessarily mean it will happen. http://www.rotoworld.com/sports/nfl/football

    QB's...

This season's group of college football QBs has been lauded for the number of potential franchise players in the collection, but few people are buzzing about one of the best kept secrets in the SEC: Missouri's Drew Lock. The Tigers' QB1 has the tools to be an elite field general at the next level when you take a look at his size (6-foot-3, 225 pounds), arm talent and pocket passing skills. As a right-handed passer with A-plus arm strength and a quick release, Lock capably makes every throw in the book with zip, velocity or a feathery touch at every range. When I studied the junior's tape from the 2016 season, I compared him to a MLB relief pitcher with the capacity to throw three or four pitchers from a number of different arm angles. He repeatedly throws around free rushers at the line, exhibiting outstanding awareness and release quickness. These are the same traits that Lock exhibited when I initially watched him throw at Elite 11 events -- competition for top high school QBs -- a few years ago. "He's a talented guy who can make every throw in the book," said a high-ranking Elite 11 official. "He's not a 'rah-rah' guy but he's a 'dude' and guys love playing with him." Another Elite 11 official called him "special" and told me that he might be the "second-best quarterback in the class" (behind USC's Sam Darnold) when it is all said and done. Now, I know that is certainly lofty praise for a quarterback that's rarely been discussed amidst the hype leading up to the season, but his 521-yard, seven-touchdown effort against Missouri State in Week 1 has certainly prompted scouts to pay closer attention to his work in the SEC. With a marquee matchup against South Carolina on tap for Saturday, the Tigers' QB1 could jump into the elite quarterback prospect conversation with a strong showing this weekend. -- Bucky Brooks http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000840145/article/drew-lock-on-rise-2-rbs-who-could-follow-kareem-hunts-path?campaign=tw-cf-sf112582349-sf112582349&sf112582349=1
