I said I was not going to come back and bitch about Vick again, after all of my ranting.

Although, I did just want to quickly come by just to laugh.  Before Vick was signed, I try to rally the troops and have my fellow Jet fans speak out against signing Vick.  Of course, I got harrassed here and was told there would be no circus.  I presented evidence to the contrary ( i.e. a thousand person protest just last month), and was laughed at.
Now, Vick is signed and as angry as I got, the reaction is cracking me up, cracking me up because you guys asked for it and denied the inevitable.
I saw this site blow up, saw Jetnation even have to post an article about it ( although the article did not say anything other than ticket sales remained the same with the Eagles).  Saw someone post a thread that he is sick of it.
I saw an article in the Post about it.  the headlines even joking about the Jets and Kennels, etc.
Facebook is blowing up.  Take a look at the official NY Jets page, thousands of people posting about it ( 1,319 as of now)  People making pages about boycotting the Jets.  People planning protests at games
The same on the Star Ledger website and other sites as well, like the NY Daily News.
Before the signing, I asked my fellow fans on here, if they want the headlines to be about the Jets and not about Vick and dogs, and I was laughed at on here.  In a small way, I am now doing the laughing.
Sure would have been better for everyone involved if the headlines were about Matt Schaub and only his football numbers, wouldn't it?

Because I am heart broken that I am losing my team.  It actually hurts, hurts alot.
I am sorry to bother you all, I am officially done.  No more posts coming from me after this.
Although, don't be suprised if people like me continue to bother you.  A thousand people protested Vick only a month ago.  Less than a year ago, Vick had to cancel his book tour because of death threats to him and the book store.  With these things happening so recent, it will probably happen again, especially in NY/NJ.
So, to the people who are ok with signing Vick, you deserve the future protests at games you will walk by, and the Jet events that you are going to that get cancelled from death threats ( not that I agree with that) and the ridicule from your friends ( that are not Jet fans).  If we all stood against this, it would never have happened.

Luckily that will never happen with my child.  I instill good morals with my children, and it starts with not cheering for a convicted dog strangler.  If I did cheer for Vick,  I really would not be suprised if my children then did the same thing, this is my point.

it is not a grudge, it is what is good for society, good for our children, and staying true to one's morals.  Staying true to my morals is way more important to me than being a Jets fan.   Even Woody Johnson has said who wins the election is more important to him than the Jets winning football games, and me not wanting to cheer for someone who strangled dogs is worse?

If I cannot have my profession back if I got convicted for a felony, why should Vick, because he can run fast?

I will be a broncos fan, as I live in colorado now.

Like I have said before, if I had done what he did, I would have to change professions.  There is a good reason for that.  The same should be true of someone who is in the public eye and have children cheering and looking up to these players.
It is very sad I have to leave the jets after over 30 years of loyal following, and also sad that my fellow former fans do not all ban together and show the NFL that money and winning a couple of extra games is not everything

If you want an answer, my morals and ethics are different than yours

If Vick was the best football player in the history of football.  I would feel the same way.  I unfortunately cannot face my friends and family or myself being a Jets fan with this guy on the team.   For me to do this after 30 years of being an extremely loyal Jets fan, it has nothing to do with winning games.  It has everything to do with me not compromising my morals and ethics

    1. Ray Lewis did not get convicted, so there is no proof he murdered anyone, and I believe he did not.  He only contributed to the cover up, I believe and was there.
    2. Even if he did, for me at least, two wrongs do not make a right.  that arguement is weak sauce

I highly doubt anyone on this board has done something as bad as what he did.  What Vick did was one hell of a mulligan.

If I was caught doing what Vick did, I would have to change professions.  certain professions should not have violent felony offenders, just like mine, especially one where there are children cheering and looking up to these players

LOL ok, he used his hands and tied a nylon cord around the dogs neck, tied it to a tree, and then watched the dog's face as it died ( I highly doubt he was getting sick to his stomach and had to turn his face around).
I guess that is a whole lot better.

Sorry, my friend, I am very sad to say, it is true.  Here is the government report:

    http://www.usda.gov/oig/webdocs/BadNewzKennels.pdf

"The report shows that after failing an FBI polygraph test in October 2007 the former Atlanta Falcon quarterback recanted his denial and admitted taking part in the hanging of dogs from a nylon cord nailed to a tree and drowning others in a five gallon bucket of water.
Twice Vick put family pets into the fighting ring with pit bulls because he “thought it was funny to watch the pit bulls. . . injure or kill the other dogs.” Vick also admitted watching his friends hang, shoot and electrocute pit bulls."

Yes, I cannot tell my son that it is ok to cheer for someone who strangled dogs with his own two hands.  I refuse to send a poor message to our children of our society.
I cannot tell my son that I forgive Vick because he deserves a second chance because he served his time.  If I was caught doing what he did, I would have to change professions.  If a player with lesser talent did this, no one would sign him.  Teams that compromise their morals only sign someone like him for one reason, he can run and throw touchdowns well, and this is a sad for society

If I was convicted of a felon, I would have to change professions as the state would take away my license and insurance companies would not touch me a ten foot pole.
If Izdik got caught strangling dogs, the NFL would be done with him, at least he would not be a GM anymore.
If a player with less talent than Vick did this, no teams would sign him.

The fact that the NFL, actually only two teams, look past his murderous ways and felony conviction just because he can run well and throw touchdowns is extremely bad for society.
I can only imagine what I would say when my child comes up to me and says this:
"Daddy, steve in class makes fun of me that my team has someone who strangled dogs with his own hands and made them fight each other to the death"
"It's ok son, he served a year in jail and he scores touchdowns"

I will probably say this now:
"Son, I cannot cheer for a player who has done these disgusting, terrible things.  It is not ok.  My former Jets team decided to look past the strangling of dogs, but I cannot.  My Jets are important to me, but my morals are way more important"  ( if half of the Jet fans said this, it would send a good message to our children, our society, the Jets and the NFL)
