  1. re Cuomo's fracking ban, so much for the Bills? but if that is true, what is one to make of this (relatively) old story? So going to watch a Bills/Jets game means what? supporting this sort of thing, or putting one's head in the sand and ignoring the realities that lurk behind this bloodsport? If you compound these sorts of things with knowing what often happens - financially and healthwise - to ex NFL-ers by the time they reach 40 or 50... You have to wonder, as a Jet fan, at the very least, this one thing: what should Woody do, if anything? Now it may be known here that, for various reasons, I do not care for Woddy all that much. However, it would be a major plus in my book if... 1, He insists that NFL ownership not include those who enrich themselves through industries that destroy public health (this would include having the NFL restrict all those endless beer commercials, which constitute a de facto endorsement of the mirage of the attainable good life -- fast cars and beautiful women, usually, as pictured in those same commericals -- through the lie that is alcohol abuse) 2. He ensures that the MetLife logo be replaced with that of another, less predatory sponsor that does not prey on widows and others 3. He spearheads the establishment of a kind of 401K for NFL athletes, supervised by independent auditors -- such that NFL players on the average not go broke shortly after retirement, but have a steady income based on at least some forced savings during their careers, plus education re the irresponsibility of a bling-happy life 4. He initiates an independent rules setting committee to help protect athletes -- particularly with respect to brain injuries -- from the onset of dementia, and other life destorying ailments 5. He fires Idzik and Rex ASAP, and get serious about letting an experienced football executive run his operation, but with an enlightened mindset, as per above This may all seem anciallary to the subject of NY Jets football, but IMHO it is not... it is in fact germane to the evolving nature of the NFL, and what is says of us as fans who watch and support this game. Thoughts?
  2. thx rex. dont the door hit you on your fat behind on the way out. looking forward to watching mark play with my new team in an hour or so. jets: a bunch of jerkoff losers, till the end of time.
  3. so if this holds, it's Rex's revenge and Geno and Decker will probably more loathed next season than any players in Jets history if the Jets lose, we're still in the duck hunt, and this will be remembered as a really entertaining game
  4. Woody Addresses Jets Future

Have you ever played pro football? I haven't. So what do I know? But... Remember what Sonny did. He went for a star. Too young to remember? http://www.usatoday.com/experience/weekend/lifestyle/will-leitch-could-joe-namath-exist-in-todays-nfl/15013325/ K. Now that you have had your history lesson -- as if you needed one, since it mostly old ex NY geezers who opine here --, Woody, please, please draft the duck. and you, Mr. NFL know it all, please hope the Jetsonians lose very effing game -- draft the duck. he is a legit star. I dont want to hear your naive opinions about whether he can adapt to the NFL game. He can, and will. No problem. Because he is a pro caliber athlete, and you are not. So,,, stop carping about this and that and the other thing, and what you think in your micro self involved grandiose Pseudo GM mode would be z best for the Jets. You are just a fan. Like me. Not some pretend NFL executive. And like me, you should hope the Woody will do what it takes to get the duck. Money talks; nobody walks. If you are from NY, you know what that means.
  5. I will be watching the Eagles this afternoon, and rooting for Mark. I hope he wins, even though that will certainly be a challenge. More power to him if does, and if he doesn't, so be it. I most likely will NOT be watching the earlier Jets game, in its entirety, if at all, as I have better uses of my time on my day off, than wasting it watching a clown team play for a clown owner. Once the dust settles next year, I may resume watching the Jets. But what happens... happens, to that team: it has nothing to do with me personally, and they don't ask my advice. I certainly wont be coming to chat rooms and fan sites to offer golden pearls about which GM they should hire etc. That is pretty much the owner's job or responsibility, unless he calls me, check in hand. Not holding my breath for that. All I want for the Jets (as a possible returning fan) is that they not be an embarrasment to the NFL at large and New York Sports Fans in particular, which they are at this moment -- at every possible level, and in every conceivable manner you can think of -- and that they put on the field or pitch a JV-level sport product that does not make us cringe. The team I really root for and whose professionalism I respect as a winning sports organization is Real Madrid, which I have followed -- like the Jets -- since the 60s. However Real Madrid is actually run by competent sports executives who know their sport inside out, while the Jets is mainly run by a group of incompetents under the direction of an inherited-money football failure. Go Mark!
  6. Geno to start Monday Night.

I too live in South Florida. I no longer recognize this team as the Jets I have followed since 1968. Until Woody and the rest of his clowns r out the picture, I 'm unlikely to follow or care about what they do -- and there was a time when I lived and breathed Jets football, for decades -- until there is new ownership in place.. a serious owner, not some trustafarian dweeb. I half follow the Eagles, only because I half care about the Sanchize, but the owner of the Eagles is another piece of inherited-money work. But it would make my day if Mark gets to the Supe, by which time Rex and Idzik will be collecting unemployment checks, no doubt; at least the former. I am also expecting many players (the younger ones with talent, whose contracts are expiring) to abandon this team in droves at the end of this so-called season. This team has no future until Woody is history. If you actually have the talent to play in the NFL, why waste your career playing for a clueless jerkoff owner whose teams are unlikely to go anywhere, except maybe occasionally back into a playoff or two by fluke luck?
  7. the cancer infecting the Jets begins with the owner. Since there is no getting rid of Woody, until Father Time calls, the Jets are permanently f***ed. I hope they do not get to draft Marcus Mariota. I would hate to see another prime QB prospect ruined by this franchise. Maybe the Jets should relocatre to Manitoba for a decade or two, play Canadian football, until the NFL allows them to try out to get back into the Varsity league. Honestly, this team should be depracted to Division 2 like they do in La Liga. They do not belong in the NFL. I stopped watching the game yesterday well before the end of the second quarter, and watched some episodes of Lilyhammer on Netflix instead. I dont think I have ever done this before -- turn off a Jets game in progress before halftime because I just was not interested in watching them bumble around in their sheer incompetence. Here is a team that has had over and over and over -- in the 40 plus years that I have watched them play -- the opportunity to draft numerous premier QBs and position players (most infamously, passing on Marino) and failed to do so, a team that plays in the biggest media market in the country and fails to capitalize on it, season after season, coach after coach, decade after decade. I do believe I actually became an Eagles fan yesterday, and am rooting for the Sanchize to show the Jets brass and the fat clown and bald gnome a thing or two this season. I hope Mark goes deep into the playoffs, as Rexxie and Idzick start collecting unemployment, and the rich doofus sits up in his penthouse wondering what to do -- oh I know, he'll hire another consulting firm to help him sort things out, since he knows less about football than probably a first year fan. but it wont work, and the Jets will be mired permanently in the swamps until he, hopefully some day soon, goes through the pearly gates and the franchise is sold to an owner who actually knows something about running a business and actually cares about this team and is not some trust fund jerkoff with a dubious personal life.

  9. hmm, guess so. thx for remembering! no one likes an I-told-you-so wisenheimer, but i do also remember mentionning here in pre season that geno was no nfl qb, that landing the duck was the hope for the future, that idzik was incompetent and should be fired, that woody should somehow be forced to sell the team (the sight of that little gnome in the Jets locker room after the Pittsburg game was just too disgusting for words), and that the team would end up winning only 3 or 4 games this season -- much of which was met with derision if not worse by the inhouse claque of Jets "loyalists" at the time. this was during the summer and the early part of the season. how time have changed! now this all seems to be accepted wisdom. i still root for my Jets, despite it all, as i have since 1968, and look forward to them ruining the Fins' season in December, and them drafting Mariota next year, then having him sit a full season behind Vick and not allowing the Rexoid to ruin him. meanwhile, the rest of this season will make abundantly clear where the deadwood is (pther than the obvious), but these borderline pretenders should be given a chance to perform on the field first -- thus killing two birds with stone: us losing as many games as possible, going forward, and rooting out those players who do not belong on a professional nfl team -- starting of course with Geno. as for Rex, I completely respect the passion he demonstrated last week, and do not believe the charge that his defensive schemes are rigidly predictable -- the rumor of his inflexibility on that score is pure bogus. he simply should not be allowed to make offensive decisions of any sort, including timeouts; but maybe he could hire a bright coach for the offense next year to replace morningdove, someone who could creatively modernize things on the O side of the ball and devise comprehensive gameplans that would eventually play to the duck's strengths. most of all, we need an O coach who does not make baffling decisions in the red zone. naturally, or to use Rex's favorite word, obviously all bets are off if the Clueless One remains as GM.
  10. anchor bar? 1930s ? that is ...well .... decades before i was born. but. i am sure you r right. live and learn.
  11. i never go to port st lucie, and i have always wondered why them call them buffalo wings. it has also not escaped my notice that rent is called lease here in these parts! that said, paul warfield was the best wr ever! never seen one better, xcepting maybe maynard.
  12. i will tell you this. it was special watching namath in his prime. but they always went after his knees. specially oakland. but watching the jets, back in the day, on ch 11 i think it was, and being a teen, great days. now i live in fla. i can just imagine what namath, who lives in the next town from me today, and whom i have met personally, thinks about as artless a qb as this geno no talent dude. i dont know if sims is the answer. no one thought his father was, until he showed what he was made of. i just dont think the manning magic can be duplicated, and i watched archie too, in his prime, with the 'aints. i have mixed feelings about watching american football, given the toll it takes. this is why i sort of prefer la liga,. at least i can rest easy christiano will no be a crripple by the time he is my age.
  13. reallY? that is fab. what part of alex did she live in?
  14. i have been a jets fan since 1968. i dont think i have seen a jets team this bad in 40 years. hithaead is a missing an s, but reflects what i and many others feels about this owner. i dont care if this makes me a pariah. woody,,,, well just another lightwind unckhole.
  15. sad - but understand this team is owned by a light wind hithead. and followed by like minded fans.
