  1. Lazard should not be on the roster. I don't care if it costs us $10M -- the man doesn't deserve a spot on the final 53.
  2. The situation we're in is fine for 2024, but after that, there are massive holes across the OL and at WR that need to be filled. Joe D should trade down to the late teens / mid 20s to acquire a 2023 second round pick, and then use these picks to fill holes/add depth at OT, OG, WR, and S. Having a high-end OT prospect who can step in and play in 2023 is a must. You have to assume you get 8 games out of Tyron Smith and anything more than that is gravy. In 2025, both Smith and Morgan Moses are FAs, so you'd like to have their replacements on the roster this year. Round 1 - OT Round 2 - WR Round 3 - OG Round 4 - S Round 5 - RB Round 6 - DT Round 7 - OG/LB Something like this is what I'd find to ideal.
  3. The Jets averaged 7.3 penalties per game, which led the league by a country mile.
  4. So long as Robert Saleh is coaching this team. He has no say or idea what the offense is doing on a weekly basis, and that won't be changing with Rodgers' and his drinking buddy running the show next year. The team has no discipline, particularly on defense, and that won't change with the vacation-camp Saleh runs. All of this will likely be for naught. I don't see how Saleh, with his lack of leadership, will be able to integrate these pieces for a successful 2024. So kudos to Douglas for trying, but Saleh and his laissez-faire attitude towards actually working will be what destroys this team.
  5. Joe Douglas is the kind of guy who stretches his budget thin to buy a car with a five-year loan. He diligently makes payments, but three years in, gets lured by the promise of a lower monthly payment. So, he refinances, tacking on another five years to the loan. After several years, Joe's cruising in a beat-up Toyota Corolla, forking over $700 every month, convinced he snagged a steal. Not quite the financial victory he envisioned.
  6. CJ Mosley will be the Bobby Bonilla of the NYJ.
  7. Douglas won’t be around to receive that compensatory pick. And it should be noted - a pick next year is worth less than a pick this year. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  8. There’s nothing I can say about Jeudy that Steven Smith hasn’t already said. $13M gets you a good FA WR + your draft picks. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  9. Position flexibility is great, on paper, but the Jets need players who can survive at their respective position for there to be any hint of success next season. Making AVT your starting LT means that you need a high-end backup (e.g. a starter at that position) sitting around, and those don't come cheaply. The more realistic option is to draft your starting LT/RT in round one; sign a starting LT/RT in free agency. Make AVT your emergency LT/RT and find another starting center/guard in the draft or free agency, depending on what you want to do with Tippman.
  10. I don't even understand what you're arguing against? Read my posts and then articulate what you're disagreeing with. Marvin Jones Jr. was the oldest WR in the NFL last year and that was at the ripe old age of 33 1/2 years old. Next up? Randall Cobb, who blows, at 33 years old. Nobody is arguing whether Davante can play and be productive when he's 33. I'm arguing that nobody is giving up two first rounders for that privilege.
  11. Jack Straw recognizes a straw man argument when he sees one. While you provided an interesting diary entry, I will note that I never said Jamal Adams was going to the Hall of Fame. I simply stated his age at the time of his trade. Try to stay on track. Teams value youth and production. Jamal Adams had both of these qualities at the time of his trade, which contributed to the outsized return he netted via trade. Davante Adams does not have both of those attributes, due to his age. Do you understand, or would you like me to elaborate more via crayons and pictures?
  12. Probably watching Jared Verse highlights with his fleshlight close by.
  13. I've forgotten more about the Jets than any beat writer will ever know. I need no lecture, particularly from a soccer player who studied journalism, on the dysfunction of this organization. Dysfunction is engrained into my essence and hard-wired into every atom of my body and spirit. This is what makes me a NY Jets fan. Just because Dianna Russini is correct doesn't mean that her credibility or opinion has any value. The average truck-driver doing deliveries in NYC is more knowledgeable on the NY Jets than her or any of her cohorts.
  14. Jamal Adams was 24 when the Jets traded him. Not quite the same. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  15. I don't think our defending of Joe D is "letting him off the hook" as much as it is grading him relative his predecessors. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. And that man, in this context, is Joe Douglas. His saving grace is that Mike Maccagnan and John Idzick were his predecessors. It's been a mixed-bag, for sure.
  16. This is probably was JD will be using to make his picks. It's either this or whatever Draft Guide is available at the gas station on the drive to Florham Park on draft day.
  17. But wait, I was told that the salary cap is not real?
  18. There’s a zero percent chance that Davante Adams would net two first rounders from anyone. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  19. Can someone do a wellness check on Warfish?
  20. PTSD from Mekhi Becton probably rules Latham out...but he's one of the top tackles in this class.
  21. Yes exactly. Rodgers is on day three of his darkness retreat and the only thing on his mind are the four snaps Duane Brown and David Bakhtiari would survive in 2024. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  22. Woody will extend Joe D and Saleh for life.
