  1. That is some serious number massaging to get to a predetermined conclusion. The point is that out of ALL the QB's to appear in a SB, the majority were taken either at the top or near the top of the draft. So Eli's multiple championships don't count because he was traded? Same with Peyton because his second wasn't with the Colts? That still doesn't take away from the fact that they won multiple championships and certainly doesn't negate the fact of where they were found in the draft. I assume you would rather win 4 games this year and have to give up multiple first round draft picks to get to number one rather than owning the pick ourselves?
  2. One QB who has actually won something. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have any of the other QB's on this team right now but I am comparing draft position relative to QB's who are able to get to the SuperBowl. Winning a championship is what our goal should be and while others on that list may eventually do that, so far history has shown the majority of SuperBowl QB's come from the top of the draft.
  3. Great point....we should go against the best likely scenario to get a franchise QB (high draft pick in Round 1) just in case they bust. Best way to never get a real QB is to never be in a position to get a real QB.
  4. This is how far we are from the #1 Pick...

You can say we are rooting for the team to lose and we can say we are rooting for the team to finally have a chance at a franchise quarterback. Something the team hasn't had for over 40 years and something that will bring this team more wins and playoff appearances in a period of 10 years than the last 30 years combined. You can keep reveling in extreme short-term success when it costs this team 10x more success in the long-term. We can keep rooting for losses in this season which is clearly not going to amount to anything and you can keep waiting for the next Patrick Ramsey to shake loose from another team. 5. LOL I am so incredibly wrong but you don't know what statistics we are talking about. This everybody, is what is wrong with America today. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  6. EVEN taking about #1 picks your argument is still wrong. How much evidence are you going to continue to ignore that you're wrong? The best chance for the Jets to win (not one game, not one season, the SuperBowl) is tanking one year to get the best QB in one of the better QB draft classes. Arguing against that is arguing against straight statistics. Feel free to do so, but just know, you're wrong. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  7. So 3 out of 50, 1 since the rule changes slid heavily to the offense's favor versus the 6 QB's taken #1 we have come up with so far. You're proving my own point. Derp. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  8. Still waiting on the number of teams that won a SB without a franchise QB from you. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  9. You're totes right, we should hate to have Matt Ryan vs Gholston because he threw 3 InTs today vs the guy not in the league. Like to argue just to argue much? Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  10. Actually the amount of 1st QBs taken who have appeared in SuperBowls is something like 25% (I don't remember the exact percentage but it was around there). Obviously with every round the percentage dropped tremendously. Anyone who knows anything about statistics will see that is FAR superior to take the 1st QB in the draft (including the number 1 pick) than anywhere else. People who don't understand will always point out the long shots, like Russel Wilson. But I'd I gave you a chance to pull a ticket worth $1M would you rather pick from the bowl that has 25% chance of winning at the ball that has 1%? Based on this thread and board, most Jets fans would rather pick out of the 1% bowl than go through ONE 1 win season. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  11. SuperBowls and consistent playoff appearances (aka chance to reach SB's) are what should matter to hard core fans. Still waiting on those magical teams that achieve these without a franchise QB. No one is making the point that you are arguing (that no other positions matter) in fact as I stated earlier I hope ALL our young players play well every game. Bottom line is it won't matter though if we don't have a QB. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  12. That's cool. I "fail to recognize" where you are finding a franchise QB other than a "kid in college". Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  13. You're right.Let's stack up those two examples of widely criticized teams against all the teams that have won a SuperBowl lately without a "franchise" quarterback. I'll wait while you compile the list. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  14. Draft picks don't solve everything...Quarterbacks do. You find talented QB's with draft picks. When 5 years from now the Jets are still picking up QB's off the scrap heap and you are trying to decide whether the team will win 5 or 9 games the next season, I hope you can take solace in the fact that Josh McCown played really well today. Good for you. Adams playing well, Robby, Stewart, Burris awesome! Love it hope they continue to grow so they can be important parts of a potential SB run. McCown? **** McCown. 15. I have a feeling we'll see a dumb Cutler INT soon. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  16. Had a fantastic pass breakup on a deep ball on 2nd down and on 3rd down got a sack on Cutler. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  17. Who were the posters calling him a Jag? Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  18. Nice play Adams! Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  19. I like the way the Jets are playing. Very happy with the overall effort and the play calling on both sides. I still want them to lose the game closely though. **** McCown. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  20. Nothing he could do on that punt but still funny to see Kerley's go to move is still the spin move. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  21. So if we draft a QB with a top 3 pick next year, you're saying that if he doesn't play well in his first 4 starts then gets injured, we shouldn't give him another chance to start the following season to see if he has improved? Makes no sense.
  22. I've seen multiple posters make this point yet, when exactly did Petty show in the offseason that he couldn't compete with McCown? They didn't even give him any live reps versus the first team defenses. This is purely conjecture on your, and many others, parts. If Petty were given the same chances as Hack and performed the same way, I would agree 100% but he wasn't and that is why many fans want to see how he may have improved over the course of this offseason.
  23. At this point, comparing Bowles to Herm is an insult to Herm. Would much rather have him than this guy.
  24. Hence why we need to see Petty, McGuire, Stewart, Hansen playing major time together.
  25. So if I understand this correctly, Woody is going to be gauging success this year based off of the improvement of McCown, Forte, and Kerley correct?
