  1. Jeez, even a thread about how much a different Jets GM sucks still turns into the endless excuse-making for why it's never JD's fault he's been so continually awful despite being given more mulligans and completely unearned second/third/fourth chances than anyone. Of course with the Jets it's never really about how good of a job anyone has actually done. Rather, it's so very often just a question of who is slightly less awful than the others, which is still sadly debatable. In this case, the best thing Idzik has going for him is he was out of here much quicker than any of them, so didn't create as big of a mess.
  2. Definitely feeling a serious case of deja vu around here.
  3. Anyone paying attention knew Huff was a goner the moment the McDonald pick was in last year, regardless of the system.
  4. They'd just need to be able to travel back in time to when many of these guys were both in their prime and not yet injury prone. Is that really asking so much?
  5. Oh, come on, it's only been 24 years of Woody-driven misery. Although sad to say, the entire 2000-2010 stretch was exponentially better than anything JD has managed to do. Who ever thought we'd be dreaming of the glory days of Bradway and Tannenbaum?
  6. Meh, Douglas was still a useless pile of turds when he had full reign over this team with Simple Chris sitting in the corner counting his toes and Woody nowhere in sight. The amount of mental gymnastics needed to suggest it's not JD's fault that he's consistently incompetent tells the story. JD is the same guy who kept Mims around for 2 years of not playing because of some supposed value before trading him for a conditional 7th that was never even met. It's just more of the same from him. Doesn't make Woody any good at anything mind you, but them both being useless is in absolutely no way mutually exclusive. It's rather been proven to be extremely likely.
  7. For as terrible as pretty much everything @Pac ever writes is, I'll at least give credit for a relatively clever thread title. As far as us coming upon our annual tradition of him being wrong about absolutely everything?
  8. This is a very conflicting scenario, because it's kind of amazingly ****ed up how the league treats some of their former players and medical conditions. However... I'm pretty sure Smith was completely blacking out while in the middle of a defending a play well before even his first injury.
  9. Does he have leadership qualities? If so, instead sounds like all he needs to be a perfect candidate to play LB. I'm sure @Sperm Edwards would agree.
  10. If all these moves work out as the best case scenario then it could absolutely make a big difference. However, that was similarly said for JD's preceding 5 years on the job and it often didn't tend to work out that way. I have no particular reason to hate on this offseason at this point, but it's also the furthest thing from a slam dunk. If we end up with yet another round of injury-plagued and performance-regressing players with depth unable to correct for it, that will serve to be an indictment, not an excuse. I'm absolutely rooting for the Jets' luck to finally change this time around, but it's still a very fragile situation at the moment, there's really no denying that.
  11. Huge if he can stay healthy. Of course we've said that more than a few times lately, so fingers crossed the Jets finally have things break the right way for them.
  12. You know, I was just thinking that if there was one thing the Jets needed, it was more DL. Sign Clowney to be the new Lawson, then keep the streak alive of another first round DE to get Huff's replacement, and then the Jets are in real business, baby!!
  13. I feel quite confident that those who have now had multiple contracts with this team feel totally resigned to play for the Jets.
  14. 2 more years nearly fully guaranteed?!? Holy sh*t JD is such a useless, incompetent turd. Based upon on-field performance CJ is the one who should be paying money to be associated with the Jets.
  15. Nice to see him back, but the first goal of the 2024 season is to see if Rodgers can play more snaps than Morstead.
  16. JD sure does love trading for guys he previously chose not to keep, because he was originally trying to force his sh*tty draft picks on the field, huh? At least in this case Moses is an upgrade to this sh*t show.
  17. By any chance can any of these DTs also play OT?
  18. So at least we now know for certain the Jets #3 QB will be playing this year.
  19. Becton was a bust even when healthy, as we were all reminded of throughout last year. Popular opinion is AVT's injuries have been in large part due to him needing to be constantly moved around due to JD's continual failures to properly address the OL. He still also hasn't yet justified the cost of trading up and using a high first for an interior OL.
  20. I'm just going to hold out hope that Simpson's high penalty numbers could be partially attributed to Jackson's running around, as there always tends to be more holds with scrambling QBs. I honestly have no idea if that's really the case or not, so we'll see how it goes and if those numbers drop, but at this point might as well hope for the best with the current regime being given one more chance. The OL moves could easily make or break the season.
  21. I'd suspect most directly replacing Solomon Thomas who came in from a near identical situation of a past with Saleh in SF. Thomas just had what you could consider a career year (on a relative scale, as a backup that is) after being a total bust for SF, so likely looking to repeat that or better with Kinlaw, another disappointing first rounder who's availability came from SF declining his 5th year option. Hardly the greatest of priorities for this team, but as a one-year deal it should be fairly low-dollar, so not much to hate as long as that's the case.
  22. Oh, so now you're one of those expecting something crazy like better than a 0.5 quality players per first round pick and another 0.5 per year in all picks in rounds 2-7 combined? Calm down with such lofty expectations.
  23. As others have said I admittedly know very little about him, but I will give credit for at least bringing in an OL with both starting experience and perhaps more amazingly miraculous for JD of all people is for it to actually be a young player with upside, rather than another has-been who's career is crashing down and using the Jets for their final, undeserved payday. Even if OTs are obviously the bigger deal after this, hopefully they still bring in another interior lineman to help shore this unit up with quality depth and/or competition, as a combination of issues with both health and experience still leaves the interior as far from a sure thing.
  24. The moment JD decided to make the idiotic McD pick it made anything but trading Huff away a total failure. It's too late now, he's once again shown his continual incompetence. Letting Huff walk for nothing is an obvious failure, but paying up for him only at his high point after putting in a huge investment for his replacement is a total failure of even understanding his job.
  25. For a moment I was worried @Warfish had suffered a serious damaging blow to the head. Instead, it turns out he did in fact give us up, let us down, run around and desert us. He also made us cry, said goodbye, told a lie and hurt us.
