No, Manish was referring to the roster.

My only thinking is that Payne was the ST ace and the plan is to keep Berning for STs until Payne is healthy.

Logan Payne has the good surname. But Berning's crazy eyes are what put him on the team. I can just see it now:

Rex: Hey crazy eyes! I want you to crack Brady's Helmet!

Berning: Yes Mein Coach! (clicks his cleats and salutes). How many cracks, Mein Coach?! (licking lips and blinking wildly)

Rex: Hell, Bernie! Crack it in half!

Berning: Yes Mein Coach! And what shall I do vit zee head, sir!

Did we ever get any real definitive info on his injury? I'm guessing if it's nothing too major they'll stash him on the PS with the idea being they could call him up later in the year if they so decide. Of the 3 fringe WRs that are left (Turner, Payne, McWhite), I think those are your three guys who will all be hitting the active roster and PS.

who's mcwhite?

yeah Im a little annoyed about DePalma the kid barely got a chance in preseason games after he impressed in the first game. Makes no sense to me at all that he never even got a chance in the 4th game either. They said early that he impressed Westhoff then he just dissapeared. Then again who evaluates our offensive players.

Mannnn...the offense never had the freakin ball all preseason including the first team. Bad year to try and make the Jets

Jason our second team O line was so bad no one really had a chance to do anything. The only player who got some reps with the first team was Kerley.

yeah the oline was horrendous and basically blocked any chance at seeing a player break out and showcase his talents. Then again, at least they blocked something.

The Jets have said they're not keeping six WR's, and since they've said that, they lost one of the guys deadlocked for the 5th/6th spots. Last year they never carried more than five, and one of them was Brad Smith - who's not a WR. What makes anyone think they're going to six WR's now?

Bellore and/or McIntyre stick with this team long before they keep a 6th WR.

Bellore seems to be in the middle of lots of good plays when he is in the game. He's doing it vs. 2nd units. But think the CS has to notice that kid of stuff. Probably easier to stash Sanchez's pal Scotty McKnight on the PS than watch someone else sign Bellore. Not saying any of these guys are make or break decisions, simply McKnight to the PS figures to be no problem.

What exactly did DePalma do to impress you? He was surehanded and quick returning punts. That's it. Watch him on the punt cover team yesterday. Fourth quarter, bottom of the barrel in and he could not get off the line as the gunner. It's quite likely he ould haave a great deal of difficulty getting off the jam at wr. That may be why he didn't get any run.

A player has to clear waivers before he can be signed to the PS.

Clearing waivers takes 24 hrs.

Exactly.Entirely plausible McKnight will be on the PS. The first 45 have roster spots, the PS 8 have to clear waivers before agreeing to be on the PS.Unless someone claims McKnight for a spot on their 45, he will likely still be a possible (likely) PSer.

Also, the 3rd QB can take the 46th spot on gameday but if he gets in the game the other 2 QBs cannot get back in the game.

That's no longer the case. They changed that rule this year. The 3rd QB can play at any time, and it doesn't impact the first two. Good for a team like the Bills listing Brad Smith as their #3 QB, but looking to get him on the field during the game to run the option.

Yes, that's a new rule, but aren't Bugg's numbers off? I thought it was 53 PLUS the practice squad, not 45.

I thought he was talking about the number of players who dress on Sunday, not the total roster. Is that 45? Lol!

I'm surprised they cut Drew Willy. With McElroy hurt, and Brunell having not taken a snap all preseason, you'd think they'd want another QB on the roster. That's definitely a position to watch.

Jets look really deep on the DL all of a sudden. Wonder if they're trying to finagle a late round pick out of one or two of those guys before they put them on the waiver wire.

It'll be cool if Berning makes the roster, but he'd be wise to rent rather than buy in joisey for the time being.

Willy is pure PS material. If Jets worried about QB depth because of injuries then they'd go after vets like Clemens.
