Many guys have had crummy 2nd years and then been out of the league in 4-5 years which by the way also means nothing. What does matter is MS cannot hit a reciever in stride or throw an acccurate pass over 15 yds. He is a choking fumbling interception producing POS as a QB. But he was horrible this year and has not shown the ability to throw the ball well down field. Maybe defenses are wising up to this and playing a bit tighter. In the Giant game, against a vulnerable secondary, his longest completion was for 15 yards. Not the sign of an elite QB. Also, his decision-making is not very good- he makes the same mistakes, and he should be past that by now. Eli won a Super Bowl in his 4TH Year, and was Super Bowl MVP. He played a major role in all the playoff victories, all on the road, and helped defeat the mighty Patriots. Does anyone think Sanchez is going to lead the Jets to a super bowl victory next year? Bottom line, Tannenbaum drafted Sanchez and anointed him as the future of the Jets. Maybe he should reconsider, but he won't. In addition to Barber, who was still arguably the NFC's best RB in '06, they also "lost" Tim Carter (started 8 games the year before), Jim Finn, and Visanthe Shiancoe from their 2006 team. All the Sanchez excuse-makers would be screaming bloody murder if the Jets did Sanchez like that, and likely would have followed that up with citing all-time great QBs who couldn't have possibly led the team to a superbowl. The complaint all season long was player turnover at receiver, specifically losing Edwards and Cotchery. Teams do well every year with player turnover. The guys surrounding Brees and Rodgers, Eli are very good football players in their own right. I've already said numerous times Sanchez looks to be getting worse, but the entire offense is a mess, including the guys he's throwing to. Seriously how many times is our first round tight end going to take a pass off the facemask? How many times is Shonn Greene going to drop a pass right into his hands? Holmes would be a lot more motivated to play with a better QB.. Do you really think if Rodgers was on this team we wouldn't be a top 3 offense?
