White may be the longer running pro, but Bush will have one hell of a career. It might not be a long one, but it will be memorable.

So that begs the question. If Bush only makes it say 5 years before he fizzles, would it be worth that high of a pick to you?

Anyone who says the Jets should take Leinart over Bush is a damn fool. That is, if the Jets are in the position to choose such a luxury.

I'm wearing my Jets green for tomorrow's game at a HUGE Patsies bar. But I might just back it up with a homemade Jets Bush shirt underneath my gamejersey in case we lose. How hard is it to make? White t-shirt and green paint. Done.

I don't know if I would pick Leinart but I honestly think Bush will be somewhat of a bust. It is extremely rare that a player with this much hype is able to live up to it. He's as fast as there is in college but he's going to find out real quick that there are players every bit as fast as him in the pros...and bigger. 6' 200 lbs. just isn't going to cut it in the NFL.

You get the picture. Bush has the speed, size and potential to repeat what all those great backs did. Given the chance, you take Reggie and you don't blink.

Okay....

Emmitt Smith - 5'9" 212

Ladainian Tomlinson - 5'10" 221

Barry Sanders - 5'8" 200

All of these guys are bigger than a 6'0" 200 lb. Reggie Bush. Sure, Sanders was 200 lbs. but he was also 4 inches shorter therefore was built alot more stockier. Bush is built like a WR. The only way he has done what he has done in the NCAA is with speed. If he puts on another 10-15 lbs. in order to absorb the punishment that he will face being a feature back, who's to say that speed is still going to be there? I just don't like the pick, it has bust written all over it. You won't see me standing in the Jets way though if the time comes.

Tabor...

I just hung the ornament in your avatar picture on my tree. One of my favorite ornaments!

Bush is the real deal, but I don't know if he is the way to go. The kid is special, there is nothing else you can say about him.

He would get killed behind the line we currently have with that frame, and I don't know what we could possibly do to shore up that line for next year. We allow more people to go by than a NY city subway turnstyle, and this was before we lost our our-league center.

I lobby for an all-Jet/Yankee tree every year, but for some strange reason my wife shoots down the idea.

Well, here is my dream scenario for 2006:

Reggie Bush in the backfield. A 100% HEALTHY Chad at qb. Not 95%, but 100%. A healthy Mawae at C. Kendall back where he belongs. And to top it off, a stud 1st round OT that we can plug into the O-line, courtesy of team X that gives up their #1 for Herm.

I think he'll last longer than five years. He, very well, may have a Barry Sanders-esque career. Retire on his terms, go out with his health, and all that.

But, to answer your question, if those five years help the Jets, then yes, totally worth it. If they turn it around and become winners, then yeah. It's totally worth it.
