Droughns breaks Browns' 1,000-yard drought

NFL.com wire reports

CLEVELAND (Dec. 4, 2005) -- Browns running back Reuben Droughns went over 1,000 yards for the season against Jacksonville, becoming the first Cleveland runner to break the 1,000-yard plateau since 1985.

The Browns hadn't had a 1,000-yard back since both Kevin Mack and Earnest Byner did it.

Since then, 257 backs in the NFL -- at least one from every team except Cleveland -- had cracked the barrier.

Droughns, who came in with 941 yards, surpassed 1,000 on a 6-yard carry late in the second quarter.

Mack was at the game along with Hall of Famer Jim Brown, Mike Pruitt and Greg Pruitt, who all went over 1,000 yards for the Browns.
