Hayleybug Posted December 5, 2005 Share Posted December 5, 2005 KERRY OUT, TUI IN Steve Bunner of KGO-TV in San Fran tells us that Raiders coach Norv Turner essentially declared that Marques Tuiasosopo will get the start at quarterback this weekend instead of Kerry Collins. A formal announcement is expected Wednesday. Turner broke the news to Collins on Monday. On one level, it makes sense for the Raiders to determine whether Tui is the quarterback of the future. He is also as mobile as a brick, and can't sense pressure around him, causing fumbles. Oh yeah, and don't forget the guy is a drunk racist prick. I watch a lot of Raider games on the Ticket because I have Moss. I also have Brees, so I watched last night for sure. Collins NEVER throws to the open guy. Fact of the matter is he's starting caliber right now with upside for more. Talking to NFL players, some of them say it took them 5 years in the league before they were fully comfortable with their roles. Calling a guy a bust after 1 and 3/4 seasons is a little premature, regardless of who it is. -I would take Tui sight unseen over Brooks Bollinger, right now and it wouldn't be close. I don't care if Tui doesn't know the play book or the other players, he'd give this team a better chance to win than Brooks Last Man Standing Bollinger. That guy blows chunks. -Kerry Collins is indeed a worthless drunk loser. This was a fact since his days with the Nittany Lions, Panthers, Giants, etc. He's like nick Cage in Leaving Las Vegas. You want him to play well? put some vodka in his gatorade bottle... just not too much otherwise he goes INT crazy. it's a delicate line to toe between buzzed and hammered, especially on a sunday afternoon. This is a truth well known before the season and anyone who picked the raiders for anything but last place in the division overlooked not only the importance of the QB position, but the complete ineptitude of kerry collins. Walter is our 3rd round pick out of Arizona, the dude that broke Elway's college records. He's much better suited to the Turner offense than Tui is. Tui was a Gruden pick for the Gruden offense, a Gannon-type QB. Tui will be exercising an option to void his 2006 contract after this year. This game against the Jets is but an interim experiment.
