I personally think we should either go Courtney Upshaw, Stephen Hill, Alshon Jeffery, Cordy Glenn, or Jonathan Martin. At the very least 1 of these guys will be there at 47 and I think any one of them would start.

I wouldnt be upset with anyone on that list...but the names I'd like to see us pick from are:

Upshaw, Branch, Curry, Lewis, Lavonte or Brown.

Double up on pass rushers. We should have our pick at any of those names.

Save OL or WR for round 3 where there will be plenty of talent.

Looks like we'll be targeting WR in the second round and truth be told, if Randle, Hill or Jeffrey fall to us, that's a very solid pick as all three were at one point or another considered first round talent. I still personally want an OLB ala Upshaw, Curry or Branch, but it seems that once again the FO doesn't invest much stuck into those pass-rushing OLBs. Should be an interesting second round as there is still a lot of talent on board.

Stephen Hill - WR - Player
The Jets are reportedly targeting a wide receiver with their second-round pick.
The Jets currently have injury-prone Chaz Schilens penciled in opposite Santonio Holmes. LSU's Rueben Randle, Georgia Tech's Stephen Hill, South Carolina's Alshon Jeffery, and Rutgers' Mohamed Sanu are four receivers likely to go off the board early Friday night. per rotoworld.com

That's true a lot of people moved up a lot of picks and didn't give up much like the cowboys moving up 8 spots into the top 10 and only giving away a 4th rounder. If the cost is a 5th or 6th it's a no brainer . You trade up and take either upshaw or one of the big WRs I mentioned earlier

Right. i would also say that a 5th would be worth it as well, but I don't even think it would take that much. Maybe our 5th for the move up and their 7th or something.
They can very easily make this happen unless someone else wants to do the same thing and is driving up the price tag.
I look forward to hearing the Jets made this happen.
Why must the Jets make it possible for me to be ridiculed at work EVERY SINGLE YEAR??????

With the new rookie salary pool, the old draft value chart is thrown completely out of whack, they most likely will have to make a new one it seems. That having been said, with a couple lower round picks to use to move around with, I wouldn't be surprised to see us use them to jump up a half dozen spots in order to grab one of the players we covet. I'd much rather come away with a pick who can contribute right away as opposed to someone who may or may not make the team as depth. The best thing is even using a few of those picks, we'd still have the full compliment of selections to use for that depth, so we definitely have some leeway to make some moves.

Another receiving TE who is no in-line blocking threat?? Pass. I agree he'd help immensely, but we need a TE who can actually block, especially with Sparano taking over the offense.

Fleener can block. It's a big misconception based on whatever it's based on that he can't....He's got a real TE frame and will probably end up a 260 pounder as a pro.

Jets face Mario Williams twice this year. They absolutely need to get a starting RT in the draft, how about the kid from Stanford or Georgia in the 2nd?

If that's the case, I think they're just a little post-Gholston spooked about drafting a DE with plans to convert him into a OLB, and I don't they're alone in that. I think if one of those guys is their BAP when they're on the clock, they take him. But all things being equal, if they have a WR or RB rated the same, they'll take the guy who's not going to have to make a position change in the pros.

With all the 6ths and 7ths the Jets have, they're free to grab a couple 'tweener prospects later in the draft.

Exactly. I have to say, I really like that we picked Coples last night and didn't lose anything to get him, but it just feels weird that we watched the most first rd trades in the history of the NFL draft and the Jets weren't involved. I can't see Tanny sitting tight tonight. Upshaw would be a complete coup for the Jets.

I never have a problem taking BPA and if they stand pat at 48, I hope that's what they do. However, we do have a couple 6th and 7ths as some wiggle room to move up, so if they feel there's a player they have to have who's value is just too good on the board then I don't have a problem with them using a couple. I just feel that with all of the players we brought in, one of them is easily going to be there for us. ,

Who knows anymore. Should address SOMETHING on the offensive side of the ball but none of the receivers thrill me. I'd take best OT available in 2 or 3. I'm sure the will go defense again though.

Devito is looking expendable now that we have Coples

DeVito hurt his knee then (I believe) reinjured it last year. I can't imagine that he has much, if any, trade value.

Brooks still has us getting Upshaw in round 2 by staying where we are.

Considering the Ravens own the 3rd pick of the 2nd round, they may just take Upshaw. Didn't they just lose an OLB?

Coby Fleener is still on the board? In all seriousness, he'd help Sanchezbow look somewhat respectable on 3rd and 6 more than any other player left.

Yep, bu no way with the whole Sparano ground pound thing. RT or OG works. Part of me wants more pass rushers though, lol.

I have a feeling Upshaw is going to rock the league next year just out of pure hatred alone.

I think the way the draft is constructed today with round 1 being seperated from rounds 2-3 gives more value to the top of the 2nd round. Not sure if it is able to be quantified but it sure seems that way.

I like the 6 players the OP listed. WR, LB, Oline(Tackle) are on my wish list for rounds 2 and 3.

Glenn, Upshaw, Jeffrey in that order.

No to Martin, he looks like he's going to be a LT. He's like D'Brick, a finesse tackle. We need a big boy.

Get Stephen Hill! We need a WR opposite Holmes. This guy is a beast!

lol at the weakness for Hill on Wright's Draft Countdown

Exactly what we need to team with Holmes.

He seems to me to be another Heyward-Bey, a nobody who runs a ridiculous 40 time, and shoots up the boards. But still sucks.
