NEW YORK (WFAN) – Plaxico Burress, anyone?

Anyone?

Burress has yet to find a taker in free agency, leaving many to wonder where the juice is for the former Jets and Giants wide receiver. Heck, even Randy Moss has a job.
The 34-year-old has surfaced more than a few times this offseason, declaring his interest in this or that team. But he remains unsigned, and it seems his latest target is also a no-go.
Burress “would love to audition” for the Miami Dolphins, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported Tuesday, though the team “has shown no interest” in signing a veteran wide receiver. Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland may reconsider if his rookies don’t progress as expected, Jackson reported.

Earlier this month, Burress expressed his attraction to Oakland and Carolina in an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio.
The free agent had previously stated that a reunion with the Giants was “always a great possibility.” Before that, Burress declared he wouldn’t “totally” rule out a return to the Jets, and even said coach Rex Ryan wanted him back. Both New York teams picked up a wide receiver in the second round of this year’s draft, so consider MetLife Stadium an unlikely home for the tall red-zone target.

Going back further, Burress told Philadelphia’s 97.5 FM in February that “nothing else” would make him “happier” than teaming up with Michael Vick and the Eagles.

As for all the talk about Burress to the Browns? Cleveland coach Pat Shurmur recently said he’s not interested… yet.

Burress signed a one-year deal with the Jets last summer after serving nearly 21 months behind bars on a gun charge. He recorded 45 catches for 612 yards and eight touchdowns in 2011.

LOL... No one wants him. I bet you he was a real disaster in the locker room last year. Players have friends on other teams... word gets around... now Plax has asked to join like 10 different teams but no one is interested!

Thank goodness he's gone and our offense can get back to being a well-oiled machine.

This is like having a cat with leukemia.

Based on hard-ons responses here when he was signed he was the ONE who was going to be the OIL we were missing in our offensive machine.

Wonder were all his supporters are now ?

I don't think anyone saw Burress as the answer to the ultimate question. He was seen as a red zone threat, and he did a decent job in that respect with 8 TDs in 45 catches. I know my hope was that he would help open up more for Holmes, but that never materialized. I don't know if you lay that on Plaxico, Sanchez, Holmes, or Schottenheimer. His attitude is his fault, though, and I think that's the main reason he's no longer with the Jets.

The discussion was really about Plaxico vs. Braylon, though, who also finds himself still out of work. At least last year, Plaxico was in demand. This year neither of them are.

I try not to hate on anyone, but I believe Plax was a big part of the Jets attitude troubles last season. I'm happy he is gone and am trying not to hope he finds himself out of work due purely to his personality,

Screw him! :D
Why must the Jets make it possible for me to be ridiculed at work EVERY SINGLE YEAR??????

Revisionist history is revisionist.

You were making the argument that keeping Cotch and Edwards would have been better than signing Burress, because he was out of football for awhile, spent time in jail, was likely to get injured, and would drop significantly in performance. Given that he did drop in performance, he still outperformed both Edwards and Cotchery COMBINED numbers-wise, and didn't suffer any serious injuries.

His attitude was definitely a problem, and the locker room issues probably would have never gotten so out of hand if we kept vets like Cotchery around. But please, lets not act like any of us who supported the decision thought he was going to be the one to get us to the promised land. He was just better than the alternatives, which, statistically, turned out to be true.

He had an opportunity here bro. He decided to join along or even lead the discourse between Sanchize and the receivers. Just because you hear about Holmes being the bad attitude and the mouthpeice to what is wrong with our offense dont think there wasnt someone else pulling the strings and putting those words in his knucklehead. Plax wasnt able to voice his opinions due to the fact he was on a 1 year contract and looking to get paid but make no mistake about it, he had the most to lose last year and the most to gain if he was going to get his. Looks like he didnt fool the powers that be because he should be in much better football shape going into this year and yet he cant even get a tryout with the fish...

I thought the same thing...my only guess was that he caught a ball for a 1st down short of the end zone, but ran it in. So you get credit for both? Dont know, but that's what yahoo sports says. http://sports.yahoo....fl/players/5037

wasn't happy the Jets signed him last year, but this is really surprising.

He was decent last year, and got better as the year went along. Probably was our most dependable receiver, escpecially on 3rd down, and red zone.

I'd take him back.

I don't recall the bad attitude others are referring to.

Frankly, i thought he did pretty well, had decent hands.

As far as speed and overall shape, what do you expect from a guy who entered a preseason lockout fresh from jail?
