A broken clock is right twice a day.

What proof? So you predicted the rash of injuries? The over 1500 lost games. Ok. You predicted the entire starting rotation, minus Dubront, under performing? Ok.

You really need me to bump last year's thread again? I'll save you the embarassment. You're welcome to go back and read it again. The Sox didn't suck last year only because of injuries. There were a lot of reasons. If you want to close your eyes to the flaws of the roster yet again, go ahead. But don't be surprised when they suck, yet again.

Again, if the Sox play to their ability, they will be better. Does that mean last place? Maybe so, but it is far from a lock.

If Farrell can impact the pitching staff like he did from 2007-10, then the Sox will be in the thick of things.

No, if the Sox are healthy, and play to their ability, and everyone else in the division does too, they still finish last. Because they have the least ability of the teams in the division.

Banking on a manager coming in and polishing the turd that is that pitching staff? Laughable.

Last place. A lock. Get used to it. Hey, the Rays are only good today because of all those high draft picks they stocked up over the course of several bad seasons. That's what you should be rooting for these days. Let go of this fantasy that this current team is a contender. They haven't been and they aren't.

To answer the question, yes.

During Farrell's tenure as pitching coach for the Sox, the Sox led the league in Ks, Opp. BA, shutouts and was 3rd in the AL in ERA.

Lester: Averaged 16 wins w/Farrell and 12 wins without him the last two years. He was the first Red Sox player to say anything after the hire and he was happy about it.

Bucholz: You can spin his fall was more injury related and it did not help, but he had his best season during Farell's last season. He took a 2-9 guy that looked lost to a Cy Young candidate in two seasons

Bard: Looked like the closer of the future until Farrell left. Now, this might be a case of him not being that good, but if Farrell is as good as RSN believes he is, then the old Bard might be back.

Lackey & Dubront: As much of a failure his tenure has been, Lackey has pitched 'well' enough to average 13 wins for the Sox. If he can do that, he his a huge upgrade over Dice-K/Aaron Cook's 5-18 record. And if Farrell can get something more out of him, even better. Dubront did pretty well for a essentially a rookie. Under Farrell he should be able to at the very least maintain what he did last year.

Then there is the bullpen. A healthy Bailey, a revitalized Bard, Aceves and Farrell should help the Sox improve on their AL leading 22 blown saves.

The offense still has work to be done. Again, if healthy, it will improve by having Ellsbury, Middlebrooks and Big papi for full seasons. Plus, it still early in the off season.

While I think the Jays trade is a little over rated, but it does make them better. If the regular season started tomorrow, would the Sox be picked for last? Probably. Are they a lock? hardly and you are a fool to think so.

Says the guy who believes a manager is going to make a mediocre pitching staff suddenly great and told us all in February re: the Red Sox:

"Yes, they have missed the past two post seasons. So? That is after making the playoffs during 6 of the previous 7. Which means what for 2012? Nothing.

The Sox team that takes the field in game 1 is nothing like the team that bombed in Game 162 of 2011."

LOL. Just LOL.
