The Jets' search for a new general manager may already be under way.According to a CBS Sports report, the organization has begun to reach out to potential candidates across the NFL for its GM position, citing league sources.

However, Mike Tannenbaum may still be part of the future. The report says owner Woody Johnson is looking for someone to run the personnel decisions, while keeping Tannenbaum on to manage the salary cap and negotiate contracts. Houston's director of college scouting, Mike Maccagnan, was the only person named.

That partnership may not be palatable for some potential candidates.

"That's totally ridiculous," one league executive said in the report. "Only the Jets."

The report also said that it may come to be that Johnson ultimately will have to fully part ways with Tannenbaum to land the most attractive candidate.

Tannenbaum has created many of the Jets issues with bloated contracts given to players likeMark Sanchez and Santonio Holmes, to name two, coupled with cap mismanagement that has left New York in a difficult plight heading into 2013. Bradway is good in his current position. I've read reports of him lobbying hard for players but ultimately being overruled by Tanny. Russell Wilson is one example.

All these people, like the Bradway "leak" or the Tebow mess, could've been avoided if there was one voice and one story. Instead he's setting himself up for more nonsense and leaks. Maybe not...but Seattle actually had this novel idea of building a stadium and concentrating on the fans and home field. We play in a giant air conditioner that's identical to the old stadium.
