The option to hang out and be cap master is still on the table.

Please, no.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

My guess is nothing will happen with Rex until a new GM is brought in, and he can assess the situations, see what is available, and decide what is best going forward.

Link doesn't say he was fired. So he might be fired, tomorrow. Misleading.

How anyone can be called a "master" at something where we are in such a terrible situation because of said person, is beyond me.

Meaningless if he's not completely cut off from the team. I don't care if Woody pays him to not take a job with another club as long as he's not allowed in the building.
Well, that's the internet, man: 9 billion tough guys who secretly want to touch your pee-pee.

Semantics may be important.

The article says that Tannenbaum "will be" fired, but "could be" reassigned. The first states something that is going to happen while the second is speculating on a possibility.
Thus, Tannenbaum is out, but it is up in the air if he is gone from the franchise.

Tannenbaum should be fired and not be reassigned, IMO.

But as to Rex, I believe the new GM should get full authority and then it be up to him to decide what to do with Rex.

Report says he is OUT. That he will not be back with the team next season.

Is that too soon to feel relieved ?

I think Woody found out after it was reported that Tanny will hang around that it will not be acceptable and no top notch candidate will tolerate that.

And it also says he will be reassigned right at the end. These guys are just effing with us JETS fans at this point!

He's the Bobby Bonilla of the Jets' brain-trust.
