You can watch any tape to see how explosive he is off the ball. He's playing along side a bunch of NFL caliber players and he's the first one off the ball and in the backfield almost every snap. But having the Clemson game still the freshest in my mine, we can use this one as an example.

Did you feel the same after watching the Bama tape against Fluker or the Texas A&M tape against Matthews? Two NFL caliber RT that completely shut him down. Like Mingo but he's statistically bad and watching the tape you don't see much production. Those who aren't elite pass rusher statistically in college very rarely become so in the NFL.

Did you watch Damontre Moore, possibly the #1 overall pick do absolutely nothing against the Sooners until there was like two minutes left in the 3rd, the Sooners were getting thrashed and everyone knew every down was a pass. How about Moore vs. Bama? Pressure on inside stunt early, scheme and McCarron holds on to the ball for too long. And then a coverage sack on a naked bootleg where he's unblocked, does keep contain but McCarron basically trips.

Go watch A&M. Mathews gets help on half the passing plays. Not to mention Mathews is probably starting in the NFL somewhere next year. Plus Manziel had that entire D on their heels trying to contain him. Not too many times you actually see anyone able to pin their ears back against A&M...not to mention you're talking about the two most dominant OLines in college football. The days of LT type domination are over. Everyone is too good. Go watch more Damontre Moore games. This is potentially the #1 overall pick. Great player, But it's not like he takes over too many SEC games. You can tell he's the best player on the field but it's not like he's straight dominating the other team like some kind of manchild.

I get when you are looking at his stats that show only 5 sacks...but what they don't show is the 16 hurries on the year.

Yes.

Two NFL caliber RT that completely shut him down.

Isn't the ability to shut down an NFL-caliber pass rusher sort of what makes an NFL-caliber tackle an NFL-caliber tackle? In any event I don't think Mingo was dominated by either of those players.

29 TFL 15 sacks 11 PD 4 FF in the SEC is statistically bad?

JPP had 6 career sacks coming out of USF, Mingo has 13.

there is a precident for guys with amazing athleticism and low sack numbers to be awesome in the league. But Mingo's gonna have run like Carl Lewis. He just might do it too
