Even if Te'o was gay, look at what Culliver from the 49ers said today. Even in today's society the gladiator mindset is not ready for that yet. Which is a travesty.

I'm just waiting for all the retractions from all the haters on this board now that we know Te'o was innocent.

Te'o isn't exactly innocent. If the guy didn't know anything ever, he still found out Dec 6 and lied up until a report became a media sensation.
The guy would have never told the truth and kept using the damn 'fake dead girlfriend' story in every interview for sympathy or whatever the hell.
It would have been just as easy to talk about his grandmother instead of his fake GF. The guy still made a point out of talking about his dead gf often enough that the media picked up on it, the fans did, and he was giving game balls and all this other nonsense to her. And I bet he would have given the game ball to his known fake dead GF if ND won the championship game.

So it's not like Te'o is exactly innocent. And the entire story is one big cover up. Who knows why and why it went on for 4 years, but regardless, who cares. Te'o will be another guy who nobody gives a damn about in the NFL because he just isn't that good.

No way, Pedro. That Polynesian dude said Te'o was totally innocent. Case. Closed.

Nothing of what you just said is true. He didnt find out anything on December 6th except that his girlfriend had come back from the dead. He talked with his parents about it at Christmas and told the school soon after. He didn't know anything until two days before the Deadspin report.

What is the story a cover up for?

It didn't go on for four years. The actual relationship went on for about 7 or 8 months.

And you're wrong about him next level too. Just wait and see.

He had a 'friendship' for years before the relationship started. So he had a fake friend for 3 years, then a fake girlfriend for a year. That's a long time to have a fake person on the phone. A long time never to skype or use a webcam. And he learned she was alive Dec 6, and then he kind of brought her up as a dead GF after that. That is covering crap up. He found out Dec 6 that she was alive, and nobody came clean until the media grabbed hold of the damn bleacher report. He kept talking about his GF as if she were dead, long after he found out she was alive, long after he found out she was fake.

it's one thing to feel embarrassed, to feel like you been conned, it's another to continue to pretend like your fake GF is dead. He milked that damn crap after he found out. How hard would it have been to just say he doesnt' want to talk about it. A lot of people dont like talking about loved ones who die or died. He kept milking it. And he milked a month later. And he's probably would have milked it at the draft if Bleacher never finds out. What does that really say about him?

All I know is he wasn't exactly honest.

You have no idea what would have happened if he never found out. You're assuming things on someone whom you've never met.

And yes. He lied. I'm sure you've never lied so you should totally judge what a 21 year old kid did.

Two completely different situations. Manti Te'o committed no crimes and is a victim.

I don't know how is more naive in this situation-

Te'o for being totally duped and falling in love with someone he never met

or

CrazyCarl for feeling he has to defend a person to the teeth for a person who he knows nothing about other than he wears a jersey that he likes.

He isnt innocent. He's a liar and still cannot be believed. There will be no retractions since this asshat wasnt forthcoming about the situation or how its been handled since. Who knows what the truth is anymore??? This has been twisted and turned and packaged neatly for this dolt.

If he lied about his "girlfriend" after he "found out" why cant he be lying about the whole thing?

In the end, I dont care about him. I dont care what happens to him. It was a different and interesting story as to how dumb one human being can be. And another lesson on how not to handle a difficult situation with the media.

I think you mean who, not how. And I am not naive. I can defend whomever I want whenever I want. This is America. Millions of people have fought wars over entities that they have never met. I don't want to delve too deeply into a religious debate, but I'm pretty sure this, on the grand scheme of things, is minuscule. Unlike the travesty at Penn State which was disgusting and an actual crime.

Also, how is defending someone I've never met differ than everyone persecuting the same person that they have never met? Seems like a double standard.

Not sure how Penn State fits into the conversation???

You are correct, you absolutely have the right to defend whomever you want. But, when you do it so blindly, for a person you don't even know, and presumably based on that he wears the uniform of a team you admire, then you chance the term naive being tossed at you.

FWIW, I think this guy will be a very nice pick if he drops. Starter ready ILB that should be able to play 4-3 or 3-4. I tend to think he's slower than the hype, but haven't watched him much. He's not Dontaze Burfict even with the lies until he runs 5.1.

I didn't bring up Penn State. Someone else did.

I'm not naive. I defend people who are innocent. I have lambasted players on my favorite teams before. I have been over this. You are just ignoring facts. Which is your right, but that allows someone to throw some not so positive terms at you. But I'm above that. You're bringing nothing to this conversation aside from insults. Which is pretty sad.

Defend all you want, but you sound like one of his paid shills... Most people would still question what the hell happened and why all the lying, but you defend him no matter what with no questioning at all and take everything that is said as truth. that makes you sound like someone who is defending the jersey.
