They hired Rex Ryan though. Clueless. Incompetent. Fools. This is why you can't have any faith in the Idzik hire.

Who knows. At that point, Harbaugh wasn't really Harbaugh and who was Andrew Luck? Hell, even John Harbaugh wasn't really John Harbaugh. Harbaugh stayed 'home' per say when he moved from Palo Alto to San Fran. Would he have been as good as he is now with the Jets? I don't know. The Jets have a bad owner, a bad front office, Tanny was still GM, etc. And it's not like Rex Ryan sucked as a coach.
If the Falcons don't choke and Matt Ryan actually played great the entire game, Kapernick would have lost a championship game just like Alex Smith did. And nobody would be calling Jim a genius.

Nobody's calling him a genius and everyone knew who he and Luck were. I do remember location being significant in his choice for the 49ers as well as some following in Walsh's Stanford to the 49ers career HCing path.

Jim Harbaugh was 4-8 in 2007, 5-7 in 2008.

What many people do not know is Harbaugh was the QB coach under Bill Callahan. And if we had hired him with no NFL coordinator experience and somebody who worked for our OLine coach with a college record that was sub 500 this board would have got a collective aneurism!

Now it looks like a great pick. But back then Rex was the better choice. And he still might be if we can fix this cap mess!

The Jets should have known that it was just a bump in the road for Harbaugh.
