Running QBs, slow white guys, fast black guys, age

This is the way of the NFL and most people never can accept that. When Montana got booted to Kansas City, a lot of people weren't sold on Steve Young. And the fact it took him what, 4 or 5 years, to win his only Super Bowl, people still didn't think he was as good. Remember he had that chip on his shoulder because he wasn't Montana. Wasn't as good as Montana. The 49ers shouldn't have dumped Montana.

These days it's different, but Flacco, Ryan, Rodgers, Wilson, RG3, Kapernick, Luck, even Eli Manning could win super bowls, put up big numbers etc and people will still live in the world of "Manning and Brady." Manning and Brady are entering Elway territory. AKA a few more seasons to close out HOF careers. It's the 'passing of the torch' so to speak and it never really happens the way anybody wants it to happen.

Elway won back to back super bowls, but he wasn't the 1980's Elway. Brady and Manning might win another super bowl, but will they be the Brady and Manning everybody remembered or some 38 year old on their last leg? I mean Ray Lewis just won a super bowl and in all honesty, if he was only on the field for one play the entire game, it probably wouldn't have made a difference. He was long past his prime. Long past being good.

Will any of these new QBs live up to expectations? Who knows. But they have the potential to do so. Flacco has always been inconsistent. If he plays like he did the past couple of postseasons, especially this season, he could be one of the best QBs in the NFL. But will he? Who knows.

Kapernick could be great or he could be Jake Delhomme. That guy had a hell of a super bowl, decent season here and there, but never lived up to much of anything.

That's the sad thing about the Jets and Sanchez. There just seems to be no potential there that he will be even good. People like to gloss over his first two seasons because the team made a run in the playoffs. But they forget Sanchez was a turnover machine his rookie season. He played a little better his second season, but come on. After two seasons, the guy had 29 TDs and 33 INTs. Russel Wilson had 26 TDs and only 10 INTs his rookie year. Flacco has been a guy who is your standard 20-25 TDs and 10 INTs every year. Was he considered Elite before this super bowl? No, but there was always that potential to be elite. Kind of like Eli saying he's elite and then winning a super bowl. Sanchez can't even say he's a starting QB in the NFL at this point.

Except when you compare this year, Kapernick has 10 games under his belt, Wilson was a rookie, both were big reasons why their teams won and competed. Sanchez was more like Trent Dilfer. Game manager. Don't turn the ball over(Sanchez was horrible at that even his rookie season).

That is the biggest problem with Sanchez. He is really a game manager. And game managers can't ever turn the ball over. If you look at the QBs in this years postseason, last year, the year before, etc the QB is the biggest reason a team won or lost games. Flacco outplayed Brady this year, he did it last year. Flacco had one hell of a first half in the super bowl. Kapernick came back strong in the second half. You put Sanchez on either team and that team probably loses. Thats the problem. Turnovers kill teams. Especially in the postseason. And if you have a QB who can't overcome a turnover or convert on a turnover, you probably lose.

Big Ben got all the glory his rookie season but he was one of the worst QBS in super bowl history. It was one of those bad super bowls on both sides of the ball with some favorable calls going one way. But Big Ben has improved. He's proven to be one hell of a QB. He's become a reason why the Steelers win or lose. Sanchez was a turnover machine his rookie season and has gotten progressively worse every year.

Blame it on coaching, but that is where we are at. Guys like Big Ben, Flacco, etc have improved as they get more experience. Sanchez went from a guy who had 20 interceptions his rookie year to a butt fumble guy. He's not even a good game management QB. Game management QBs don't turn the ball over. Chad Pennington was a game management QB. He just fell apart after a turn over. Talk about thinking too much.

I see Sanchez disappearing from the NFL if he doesn't accept a lower salary. There are guys who accept being a backup at a backups salary. And there are guys who think they are starting QBs and want starting QB money and aren't starters. Sanchez just isn't a starter in the NFL. He's really not a very good backup either. But it's the NFL. Guys like Matt Moore and Tavarius Jackson are still around so. But they are around because of cost. Sanchez will either start learning not to turn the ball over, become a decent enough backup game management QB, or he's going to be out of the NFL.

You can't be a QB who doesn't have a strong arm, doesn't win you games, and is a game management type of QB who leads the league in turnovers.

You do make some really valid points. I am not covering for Sanchez, but I do believe Sanchez was just a bit better than Penny....the problem I see is the HC and front office did nothing to help in Sanchezs development. To me thats the biggest problem. I will say it this way, Sanchez is serviceable. Can he win us the big game two AFCCGs back to back tells me, he can help you get there, but as of this moment he alone can't do it.....thats the difference between the Jets and Teams like we saw in the playoffs this year. But that does not mean he doesn't have the capability of being a much better QB, I just hope he can prove it this year.

When your optons are Thomas Jones and Mark Sanchez throwing which is the correct adjustment?

Anything to make sure you win that game....either on the D side or O side, that loss was on the coaching than on Jones or Sanchez.

no sh*t jim coaches the 9ers

do you remember the jets/9ers game ?

lol

nice hindsight

useless tho

You posted that before the game? I don't think he's a bad coach, but lining up in an illegal formation to start the super bowl is the coaching equivalent of Thurman Thomas losing his helmet. What does the Niners game have to do with anything? They kicked our ass. Doesn't exactly mean they are mistake free. The Ravens certainly seemed better coached, more disciplined and better prepared. I'm sure much of that stemmed from having a more experienced QB.

For what? Not having a better option than Jones and Sanchez?

By what you say, our entire season rested on Greene and Sanchez.....that cannot be the case in our loss to the Colts......you can make a very good case spotting Pitt the year after 24, was all on Sanchez......by he does NOT play defense.

Lets see what happens to our Jets this year.....lets see if Sanchez has learned anything at all. Lets see if our HC can adjust....its a wait and see.....
