I hate to say it but scouting is HUGE this year. If we have a pass rusher that we rate as a stud and they are on the board then you take them. If we rate say jones at a 20 something player then a team will value him enough to move up and get him. Then we can trade down getting the extra picks we need and pick BPA.

Kinda of year you are not going to have a good player just handed to you because you have a high pick. they are going to have to do there home work.

This team needs offensive play makers more then anything. Extra picks give you the freedom to take a few chances on WR, RB and TE in the 2nd and 3rd rounds to hit on a gem.

Which is basically the patriots philosophy...granted with a HOF QB you can afford such luxuries.

you can do anything with an arguably top 3 qb of all time and still be great

Stay at 9, draft the best player available. You can hoard picks for later rounds but this draft class isn't that great.

Strange but true: teams don't get to trade down just because they want to, they actually have to find someone to trade up! #truefacts

Is it possible DaMontre Moore turns into a Suggs situation? By that I mean failing to break a 4.8 and getting gift wrapped to Ryan at the end of the top ten.

it's very possible and that's another risk worth taking at 9

Mel Kiper and Todd McShay both now saying Jonathan Cooper may go into Top5-10 after combine.

You think Idzik goes old school?

With the number of needs we have, it would be wise to trade down 4-5 spots a couple of times and pick up 2-3 extra picks in the mid rounds. I'd trade down n the 2nd round too. If we are targetting a player thats project a few picks before our 2nd rounder, I'd trade down from our 1st rounder, than trading up in the 2nd.

We really need picks this year and next and hit on most.

When Idzik looks at this roster, he probably sees a half dozen positions more dire need than guard. So no.

I rarely like the trade down but if the Jets can get a future 1 plus picks this year (that's the historical price for a playoff team to move up) then stockpiling would be a good thing. This team really lacks depth.

If we can get a 28-32 #1 in 2013 and a 2014 #1 sign me up now.

use our 1st round on BPA and use our 2nd round pick on RB Gio Bernard

That's not old school. It's never been in vogue to take a guard in the top ten, and it never should be.

That said, I hope Cooper and Warmack both go in the top 8, giving the Jets a better choice of pass rushers. But it'll never happen.

That's cool. If he's breaking out the spreadsheets, he knows the rate of a return on a guard is just way too low to invest a top ten pick. You need to take a potential impact player there.

Then complain that Idzik didn't listen when the Bengals pick him at the top of the 2nd before our pick?   :winking0001:

Ya agree, I am hearing Bengals are eyeing him BIGTIME.

To get Gio we will have to leapfrog them in 2nd or via tradedown out of #9 move get a pick before Bengals (low 1st , high 2nd)
