The counterpoint to this is that because the Jets Offense was so horrible, the Jets D was on the field for most of the game. That will tire any defense out as well as frustrate them.
I don't put much stock in stats as they can be easily manipulated to validate your point/view. I look at the overall picture and not things like sacks and int's, or even yards allowed for example. That being said, there is a stat that doesn't lie - Time of Possession. I would venture a guess with the Jets as kings of the 3 and out were probably bottom 5 in this category. That's a lot of time your D is on the field and will adversely affect their performance.
Also, they lost their best player and leader early in the season. Couple that with the fact that the starting LB's were old (sans Harris) and slow. All this considered, the D kept them in most games to the detriment of the offense. I say the D did a fantatic job and shows what a Rex Ryan defense can do.
You would badly lose your bet.
The Time of possession stat is the biggest BS stat in the NFL.
A small sampling: In the Jets last 7 games this year they won the TOP battle 6 out of 7 times, including the 49-19 blow out to the Pats.
The only game they lost the TOP stat was to the chargers by 9 seconds
