Eagles Chiefs talking about QB Foles-this figured

If you trade Revis who's value is 2 first round picks, you better be getting a QB back who is better than Foles. Just get the picks.

Jets were reportedly seeking a 1st and a 2nd.  That's a hard get.  Especially considering his injury, our cap, his demands, and the timing of this whole ordeal.  Plus it gets tricky. Would you rather have a 1st and 2nd from San Fran (picking at the bottom of each round is like getting a really early 2nd and 3rd)

The idea behind Foles is that they would be more likely to just clump him into the deal.  Along with Nnamdi, we don't quite get the 1st and 2nd that we want.  But we get what amounts to the value of a 1st and a 2nd.  We get a really high 1st, and 2 players who allow us to fill out our roster without needing to address those positions.

FWIW,

-Jacksonville is about $20M under the cap

-Chad Henne is signed for $2.62M in 2013, and is a FA in 2014

-MJD is signed for $4.95M in 2013, and is a FA in 2014

They might have the motive to move either player for the right price, as both are FA's in 2014.  We happen to have a need at both positions.  They badly need help at CB, and help filling seats.  Revis could be their teal Jesus.

I just can't honestly think Of any reasons Jax would trade for Revis.  They are still going to have the 5-8 pick in next years draft with or with out Revis.

Plus I would rather have the 6 pick in next year’s draft, then the second in this one.

If Revis is traded it will be to a contender.  Some one who thinks having Revis will put them in the Super Bowl.  Jacksonville would be much better served having 4 5 million dollar players then just Revis

Yes I have seen him play . Let someone else give him a big contract and see how that pans out. No way in hell does Revis enter a deal unless we are talking about another elite talent around the same age or a few draft picks preferably a 1 and a 2   +

I never implied trading Revis for Foles, that's crazy talk, Foles hasn't earned it. Just saying that Foles small sample base shouldn't be the reason people throw his future out the window. The birds won't let go of him for cheap.

We are losing Revis.  It is going to happen.  Do you want something in return, or not?

The season ticket holders deserve to see Revis return (or a Revis-like superstar to replace him). People are paying 100 dollars a ticket to watch a multi-year rebuilding? Doubtful. There is no rebuilding just a reloading. Serious questin when's the last time a multi-year rebuild worked? Was it the Cowboys in the Troy Aikman era? These days when a team rebuilds they usually just suck for 10 years.

You really think a season ticket holder would rather see Revis come back in a 5-11 year and then walk at the end of the year rather than get something for him? Season ticket holders pay to see a team win, not individual players play well on bad teams. No one cares who the players are if they win.

The season ticket holders deserve to see a good product on the field.  That encompasses a competitive team.

As we saw last year, this team is only a couple injuries away from being incompetent.  Sure last year was an anomaly; we lost Revis, Holmes, Keller, and dealt with an achy Mangold & Pouha while Sanchez learned (didn't really learn) a new offense.  But every team deals with injuries.  The Ravens lost their starting probowl caliber CB, and the heart of their defense, yet they were able to stay competitive and win those ring thingies. The reason?

Their starting pro-bowl caliber CB (Ladarius Webb) only cost them $2.3M last year. His presence/absence did not affect the team's ability to add talent to the roster.  It's not like he's not getting paid either, last year he signed a 6-year $52M contract.  He's getting money, plenty of it; he's just not so wrapped up in being paid the most that the team can remain competitive in other areas.  Webb will never make more than $8.5M per season (sans the bonuses worked in).   That is half of what Revis is looking for.

Season ticket holders deserve to see some Lombardi.

Back to the point.  Woody is not going to pay Revis to play here in 2014.  You talk about this "multi-year" rebuild; that is EXACTLY what you're going to get if we delay the process of LAR (life after Revis).  Either way, Revis is getting paid this year, and he's hitting our cap.  The difference of keeping him or trading him lies in what we will get back.

2014:

Keep him = moot.

Trade him = a one-year developed rookie, OR, draft-pick ammunition to get our new game-changing player of choice in 2014 (QB, WR, DE)

New one:

Seattle's first pick #25

-Matt Flynn

-Brandon Browner

for Revis.

Seattle doesn't particularly want Revis, but this keeps him away from San Fransisco and creates perhaps one of the best secondaries of all time.
