JOJOTOWNSELL
Jets fans are getting trolled so hard by the media right now!! http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/12/jets-could-unload-a-quarterback-as-part-of-revis-trade/ If/when the Jets ship cornerback Darrelle Revis to the Buccaneers, another current member of the roster could be making the trip to Tampa, too. While poking around the question of whether the Jets could be trying to include quarterback-of-all-tradesTim Tebow in the package (which would keep the Jets from cutting Tebow and seeing him sign with the Patriots), we tripped over a previously unknown nugget. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the discussions between the Jets and Bucs have included the possibility of the Buccaneers assuming the contract of quarterback Mark Sanchez. Yes, Sanchez. He has a guaranteed base salary of $8.25 million for 2013. If he didn’t, Sanchez would have been cut by now. If the Jets could unload that obligation, they’d surely jump at the chance. It’s unclear whether Sanchez would compete for the starting job in Tampa. On one hand, he hasn’t done enough in recent years to justify the opportunity. On the other hand, coach Greg Schiano doesn’t seem to be sold on quarterback Josh Freeman, who was taken 12 spots behind Sanchez in the 2009 draft. Sanchez thrived in New York during a couple of Schiano’s seasons at Rutgers. Schiano possibly thinks he could coax better performances out of the man who took the Jets to back-to-back AFC title games to start his career. In Tampa, his offensive coordinator would be Mike Sullivan, who helped Eli Manning to a couple of Super Bowl wins. At this point, all we know is that the subject has come up in the trade discussions. For now, it’s still merely a possibility. An intriguing possibility, but a possibility nevertheless.

faba
Freeman's 2013 salary is close to match with Mark's Coming off arguably the most productive season of his four-year NFL career, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman has assembled a new team of representatives as he enters the final season of his rookie contract. Although Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano has reiterated that Freeman has a firm grip on the team's starting quarterback spot for 2013, Tampa Bay appears apprehensive about making a long-term commitment to the 2009 first-round pick. Preliminary discussions between Freeman's representatives and the Buccaneers at last month's NFL Scouting Combine were positive, The Tampa Tribune reported. "They said they definitely believe in Josh, that he is their guy, that they want to reach their goals with him, they know he is capable of doing the job and are committed to him,” Erik Burkhardt, Freeman's agent, told The Tribune. Burkhardt did not indicate if further discussions are scheduled or if the Buccaneers are close to offering Freeman an extension. The apprehension could stem from Freeman's late-season struggles in 2012. After throwing 18 touchdowns and only five interceptions in his first nine games, Freeman had nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions over his last seven. Freeman's hot start included a stretch of five consecutive games with a quarterback rating of 100 or above. But in his last five games, Freeman did not have a rating higher than 79.2. Freeman's greatest assets might be his arm strength and accuracy downfield. Last season, he led the NFL in completions of 40 yards or more with 16 and ranked in the top 10 in completions of at least 20 yards. He also finished with a 99.4 quarterback rating on attempts of at least 20 yards toward the left sideline, according to Pro Football Focus. On deep middle passes of at least 20 yards, Freeman had a quarterback rating of 89.9. Freeman is scheduled to make a base salary of $8.43 million in 2013 and carries a cap hit of $9.76 million. The Bucs could be leery of offering Freeman a deal similar to the three-year, $40.5 million extension Mark Sanchez received in 2012.

LAD_Brooklyn
This can't be too hard to grasp as the Bucs were more likely going out burn $8 mil on Palmer so if your that foolish then do the same with Sanchez. Also they are lacking picks to burn on a legit backup QB with a Revis trade. So with $34 mil in cap space go right ahead and take on Sanchez as your backup QB. Il Mostro
If Schiano's reported perception of Sanchez is accurate, maybe this is not as out there as it appears. Bucs would certainly keep their 2013 #1, with the 2014 pick going to the Jets. Buzz, from the talking heads (for whatever that is worth) says that Schiano is far from being in love with Freemen. And the Bucs have enough cap room to swing just about anything.
