Jay Mohr tells Pete Rose he should never be allowed in the HOF to his face

What A-Rod has done is what hundreds of others have done.

I doubt hundreds of others bet on baseball.

Arod made it so others had to do PEDs to keep up. Plus, hes the highest paid Dbag in the world.

Rose played for the game and not the money. Arod and people like him have ruined baseball for ever. The whole thing is a joke.

I hate that you're having me defend A-Rod here, but he wasn't the first on PEDs and he won't be the last.

Pete Rose played for the game and not the money? Then why the hell bet MONEY on the GAME.

Justs stop, you're embarrassing yourself.

I agree with CC on this one.

A-Rod was not the first to take roids.  He is just the latest poster child of the era with McGwire, Sosa, Palmero and Bonds.

As far as Rose is concerned, the rules are clear.  No betting.  And similar to A-Rod, I doubt he was very forthcoming when he was busted.

I am fine with his lifetime ban.

Baseball hasn't forgotten the Black Sox scandal of 1919.  Almost wrecked pro sports before they got established.

I don't think they're going to lift the ban, no matter how hard Pete played the game, (and he was the very epitome of a guy who hustled).

Pete should not be in the HOF.

He gambled not only his own earnings, but the livelihood of every player he managed as well the integrity of the game.

Say that Pete had a wager on a game this evening that he was managing. Say it was a tight game, he had a lead in that game and thought of turning that lead over to his close. Say that closer had worked the previous 4 nights, and given normal circumstances would have gotten a rest. Say, because of this wager, Pete puts that closer in and he shreds his arm in the process. That young man's career is now in jeopardy.

Every few years, some reporter does a love-in with Rose, and how he should be in the hall. But his national popularity has faded. My wife and I were in Vegas recently, and Rose was doing a meet and greet at a sports memorabilia store in the Mirage. There was no one there to see him. No line. NO ONE.
