JoeKlecko
Gag. a. maggot McElroy has a better arm and is a better QB. Harrell was a system QB. He'll never amount to anything in the NFL.

I wouldn't take it to mean anything other than that Geno is likely not going to be playing Thursday, so they wanted to have another QB ready to play in that game. T0mShane
I was just reading some articles about him from the Packers beat guys. Verdict: puny arm, inconsistent, somewhat like Matt Flynn. McCarthy liked him a lot, but the Packers liked BJ Coleman's ceiling more.
SayNoToDMC
Not a bad signing. However how do we keep 5 qbs? Some might say how do you keep Rex on as a head coach? I say leave conventional wisdom to slapdick teams like the Giants.

I hope you're right. I also hope the rumors are right that Rex is leaning towards starting Simms on Thursday night. Let him get the reps. If he falls flat on his face, it will silence those who've been clamoring for him to be the starter vs Tampa. If he plays well, then maybe the Jets have gotten lucky and he'll be able to become a solid backup or starter for them in time.

JetNation
The New York Jets have signed QB Graham Harrell according to Fox Sports. Harrell, 28, had spent the past three seasons with the Packers and served as Aaron Rodgers’ backup in 2012. Harrell was released Sunday after Vince Young emerged as the front-runner to serve as Green Bay’s new second-stringer. Why would the Jets bring in another QB so close to the beginning of the season? There are two theories right now: 1. Insurance in case the injury to Mark Sanchez sidelines him for an extended period of time2. Greg McElroy’s injury is worse than reported and they need someone to split time with Matt Simms vs the Eagles on Thursday I have a feeling McElroy is not healthy enough to play much Thursday night and that led to Harrell signing. — Brian Costello (@BrianCoz) August 28, 2013 If Harrell was brought in to play on Thursday he might not be in town for long. Final roster cuts are due on August 31st. Having spent his entire NFL career in Green Bay’s West Coast-style offense, Harrell could be a nice fit in a scheme with similar concepts run by Jets coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. A standout college quarterback at Texas Tech, Harrell saw limited action in his time with Green Bay. All four of his career passing attempts came in backup duty last season in four games spelling Rodgers. According to Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com, the Jets have agreed to terms on a contract with former Green Bay Packers quarterback Graham Harrell. He’s expected to report to the team on Wednesday. The Jets also planned on taking a look at John Beck this week but ultimately decided to go with Harrell to add to their shaky signal-caller situation. Harrell will join Sanchez, Smith, Greg McElroy and Matt Simms as quarterbacks on the Jets’ roster. Harrell was released by the Packers this week after being beat out by Vince Young for the backup job to Aaron Rodgers. Harrell was 23 for 42 (55-percent) for 169 yards and an interception in three preseason games with the Packers this year. He’s appeared in just four regular season games, all in 2012, with just four attempted passes.
