Oh great, besides being discussed Ad Nauseum on this forum, we can tune to other outlets, radio stations, ESPN, SI.com etc. and really beat this thing into submission. Good thing its a holiday week, where we all have time to obliterate this subject.

It's become the hypocrite cause du jour in the local media now. They're herding reactionary Jets fans up before trolling them all offseason.

Sid Rosenberg apparently is filling in this week on WFAN. "Point differential doesnt matter."

Cant get that type of analysis everywhere.

He's unlistenable. I don't understand the alleged fascination with bringing him back. He's rumored to be among the candidates to replace Francesa

Provide three legitimate reasons, please.

1. He's a master motivator; players love playing for him.

2. He knows his X's and O's on defense. You're always going to have a good defense when you've got Rex behind it. There aren't many (possibly there aren't any) coaches that are excellent on both sides of the ball, so the chances you're going to stumble upon one of those guys is extremely slim. There are, however, plenty of coaches around the league that aren't great on either side of the ball. Rex is.

3. He's proven that he has what it takes to win the big games. E.g., beating Brady and Manning back to back on the road in their buildings in the playoffs.

There. Now provide three legitimate reasons to fire him, please.

There. Now provide three legitimate reasons to fire him, please.

1. 9-7, 11-5, 8-8, 6-10, 7-9

2. Wasted every draft class given to him. If you're not a defensive lineman, you came here and watched your career flatline before it got started. No players other than DL improve here.

3. Complete inability to manage the clock.

4. Complete inability to provide discipline.

5. Tony Sparano was Rex's hire all the way, and one he bragged about making. The absolute catastrophe that followed was entirely on Rex.

6. Mark Sanchez was a historically bad quarterback who was never held accountable until it became entirely untenable post-Buttfumble, and that lasted one whole game. Even this year, Rex's concern for Sanchez's feelings led him to put him back into the Giants game this preseason. Add to that, Rex decides to surround Sanchez--coming off the second playoff run--with a huddle including exiled psychopaths Plaxico Burress, Santonio Holmes, and Derrick Mason, all players Rex adored from his Baltimore days. It was almost impossibly stupid, but that's Rex. He's an idiot.

7. Santonio Holmes has run roughshod over the quarterback, the coach, and the organization since he got here and the coach sponsored it the entire way.

8. Five years in, team is rebuilding when it should be competing for titles. How sad is it that you're excited about almost being .500 this season?

9. 9-7, 11-5, 8-8, 6-10, 7-9

10. Complete inability to coach a whole team. Treats offense like an inconvenience. Models these Jets on the template of the anomalous 2000 Ravens. This is his ideal. This is his plan. This is his ceiling.

11. Opposing passers: 90 rating on the season.

What kills me about all this media crap is that they took a royal dump on Rex last season. I remember a clown car with Rex, Woody and Sanchez ALL on board. Rex had a big green nose as well as clown hair. NOW Rex is great they all say. The NY media flops like a fish on a dock with no real or original ideas amongst the entire group which includes Serby, Cimini, Mehta, Costello, and Walder.

When it comes to the Jets and the mets, it seems they have figured out they get better ratings when they take negative stances on everything either team does.

This is a garbage post that is created from fantasy, not fact.  Tom can write, we all know that.  It doesn't make it true.

Tannenbaum was in charge of the draft.  Not sure who Rex was supposed to develop.  And he doesn't have a complete inability to manage the clock.  There is room for improvement but he isn't terrible.  Especially when you factor in his entire time here has spent with young QBs.

Rex wanted Sparano and Haley.  He got Sparano.  That was a disaster.  No doubt.  But the Tebow fiasco didn't help any of that.

Rex should have held Sanchez accountable.  I have said that for years.  That said, there was no talent behind Sanchez.  But Rex learned his lesson in this regard and he benched Geno this year.  Same for Milliner.  Rex learned his lesson on accountability.  He has the ability to improve despite your protests otherwise.

The Jets are a disciplined team btw.  They have done well penalty wise with a few bad games mixed in under Rex.

I agree but what we have to remember is the media are not jet fans, they don't live and die with this team like we do, they want Rex to stay now because they want the circus, they want the leaks, they want the bafoonery, theyre not like us wins and losses mean nothing...Francesa said a few years ago that the Mets collapses were better for ratings than the Giants super bowls...these media clowns are panicking because the circus is about to leave town and they know it...the jets can go 16-0 for 5 straight years and win 5 straight super bowls and cimini and crew would be yearning for the good old days of clown Rex.....the media are not in this for the same reasons we are.

1. 41-39, assuming we lose the last game of the year. Sorry but going 7-9 in a cap ridden season isn't grounds to fire.

2. That shows your complete lack of knowledge. Demario Davis, Allen/Bush, Coples, Powell. Now I know you totally wanna ignore the DL in this discussion but when it's your strength if the team, you can't discount it. Mo, Harrison n Sheldon May be the best in the league.

3. That's your opinion.

4. Again, your opinion.

5. He was let go after one season so he held him accountable.

6. Sanchez did take us to two AFCCGs, suggesting we can win with Sanchez. Cap he'll caused the offense to suffer much more than defense. Being in cap he'll wasn't Rex's fault.

7. He was asked to take a paycut or be released. Not sure if that means he was "sponsored all the way".

8. We lost a GM and had a huge turnover due to cap. Of course we'd be in rebuilding mode n yet we are almost .500 in a complete rebuilding year.

9. Already discussed

10. Not many coaches can do that. They have been one if the better running teams, just never got a good QB. Not every coach gets lucky with a Brady.

11. Great. Let's not talk about the DL, but let's talk about our secondary in a season when your rookie CB becomes ur #1 due to injuries n have I drafted FAs playing CB.

I like this post because it highlights how pathetically shallow and weak the pro-Rex argument is.

Or perhaps it shows how weak your points were? Now Rex is not perfect, of course. But he has done a really good job with what he was offered
