No Jets make Pro Bowl

Which must be an indication that none of them have ever had a good season. Wilkerson, for example... awful.

P.S. Cro made the pro-bowl before and he was a Jets "draft pick." :P

P.P.S. Coaches are now responsible for all draft picks their team makes. Good to know.

Ooooooooooooooooooh

I wonder if a coach has ever won one game without a pro bowler let alone 7 games ?

Greatest coaching job known to mankind.

Jets went 10-6 in 2006 with no Pro Bowlers.

nevermind. They had a Justin Miller at KR but it's practically no one since the Jets don't recognize it...

For what its worth, ESPN columnist Kevin Seifert ripped the Pro Bowl selections, saying that many of the NFLs best players, including Mo were left off the team and some players with subpar seasons got in in their place, evidencing that the selection process wasnt a serious endeavor.

The only person who puts any credence in this popularity contest, otherwise known as the pro bowl selection process, is T0mShane. Virtually everyone else recognizes that it's a complete sham.

Rex Gets Love From Opponents

by Rich Cimini

11/23/2010

In the current issue of Sports Illustrated, there's a survery of NFL players, based on the following question: For which other coach would you like to play for?

The winner, in a landslide, is Rex Ryan of the New York Jets. A total of 279 players were polled from across the league, and Ryan received nearly one quarter of the votes. Here's the breakdown:

Ryan, 21%

Mike Tomlin (Pittsburgh Steelers), 12%

Sean Payton (New Orleans Saints), 9%

Jeff Fisher (Tennessee Titans), 8%

Bill Belichick (New England Patriots), 7%

Let's call it the Rex Effect.

He turns off a lot of opponents because of his extreme confidence and big-talking style, but he also commands respect because of ... well, his extreme confidence and big-talking style. Players like him because he's fearless and speaks their language. He also doesn't run a boot camp; he tries to pace players through a season by allowing their bodies to rest. Not all coaches are like that. (See Belichick).

Evidently, HBO's "Hard Knocks" had the desired effect, with Ryan's popularity soaring. If nothing else, that should help the Jets' recruiting in free agency.

You get to the Pro Bowl via perception and performance. Not only have the Jets failed at producing quality players, they've also become non-entities as a franchise in the public sphere. That's quite the achievement given all the bluster from the Head Coach. Five years in, it's a minor league franchise again in every sense of the term.

I can't believe he much importance you place on these appearances. I really can't. I so don't give a crap.
