But they are paying money out elsewhere by the truck load, that always scares me. They will be better next year but will they have the starting pitching to win the division? How will the bullpen hold up without Mariano? Tanaka coming, he hired Jeter's agent and Pineda should finally be back adding a young power arm. I also have to assume C.C. can't be that bad again. The old rules where the team that bid the highest in a closed bidding process got exclusive rights to negotiate like when the Rangers bid 56 mil for Darvish. The new rules are the posting bid is maxed out at 20 mil for his Japanese team and anyone willing to pay that can negotiate so he's essentially a free agent and teams have till the 24th of January to work out a deal. He hired Jeters agent and the Yankees are already in contact so I got my fingers crossed, the rotation obviously looks much better with him. One question, the 20 million, does that get paid by everyone who wants to negotiate? Or just by the team that signs him. Pretty wild if that is what you pay just to talk to him. Pretty wild if that is what you pay just to talk to him. Just the team that wins, better for the player for sure. I think Darvish got like 10 a year. A healthy Toronto team would be in the mix and Baltimore and Tampa both have the potential to put together monster seasons. I'm excited about the prospect of Tanaka on the Yankees. I'll believe in Michael Pineda when I see it. It's a whole new bullpen world with Mo gone. I'm a big fan of D-Rob, but the ninth inning will no longer seem automatic. Els is the only real loss. Jackie Bradley should be an adequate replacement for Ellsbury. More so in 2015, but he should be able to fill Els shoes defensively now and should produce similarly offensively...eventually. Even if he does not, Victorino, Gomes, Nava and Carp can replace Els bat. The guy that legs out 2B/3B/Steals...not so much. Xander Bogarts should be a plus bat over Drew, but is not there defensively. The good thing for the Sox, the pitching will keep them in games. Boston Strong is over...as is the beards.
