Jets, Bucs to have interest in Vick as per Schefter

Mike Vick's , no dummy. He will look at each situation and make the best choice based on many things. First and foremost (besides money), will be his chances to start, so he will look at a situation where the QB position is relatively unstable, but also, a situation that runs an offense he is comfortable in. The JETS had the LOWEST rated QB in the NFL, and he is familiar with Marty's system, and the JETS have gobs of Cap space, meaning of course, gobs of money. Can a situation be better fitted for Mike Vick than this one?

Marty's opinion could easily be that he wants no part of Vick. In the WCO, you want a QB who can complete 65% of his passes, something Vick has never done in his career. He's only crossed 60% once, and that was throwing to DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, and LeSean McCoy. Not exactly the arsenal he'd have here.

Also not thrilled with a lefty QB on a team heavily invested in its left tackle.

Really have no interest. He's only had one really good -albeit, 12 game- season in his entire career. Otherwise, his numbers are no more impressive than the last four games of Geno's rookie year.

All valid points, but we aren't bringing Mike Vick in to be or "QB of the Future", merely a stop gap until we find that guy. GENO may indeed be that guy, but he also may not, and if GENO is awful again (meaning rated at the bottom of the NFL), then Mike Vick is the perfect guy to have , who knows the system, and can step right in seamlessly.

The Jets won't be throwing gobs of money at a stopgap, and I don't even know if Vick qualifies as that. He's been pretty ordinary the last few years with much better talent around him than what the Jets are offering. Even with that talent, he throws hs share of picks and fumbles at a higher rate than a rookie Geno.

Oh, and he tortured and killed dogs.

As a player, he's not worth bringing in. As a human being, he's worth less.

You are badly overrating Michael Vick.

Michael Vick knows our system but you can hardly say he flourished in it. He had a good 12 game stretch in it in 2012 but he was mediocre in both 2011 and 2012 and as has been stated previously has serious accuracy issues that have hampered him in a WCO.

Right now, Michael Vick is a 34-year-old QB who has never been able to stay healthy and got benched when he most recently played.

Technically right now Michael Vick is a 33 year old QB.

Here is what I think about Vick:

  • Terrible what he did, but he did serve the time, so if he can help the team so be it
  • That said, there is no way you bring him in here and plan on him being the starter (or pay him big money)
  • He would be a really good veteran backup to Geno Smith
  • Michael Vick has thrown for 3,000 yards 3 times in his career
  • He ran for over 1,000 once which is amazing but when you add his rushing \ passing yards that year he still comes in at 3,500

The Jets should pass on him.  Unless there is no market for him at all and you can get him at a low price with backup expectations.

Even completely disregarding the whole non-football side of things, I want absolutely nothing to do with Vick.  The guy is old, injury prone, and not particularly good to begin with.  This is in no way saying that the Jets should be handing Geno the job, quite the opposite really.  The Jets need to be looking for real legitimate competition at the position and Vick is simply not that as, even if he proved to be the better option, it's a foregone conclusion that he'll never make it through the season.  The Jets need another option at QB, but that option needs to be a viable one for this team's 2014 season.  Obviously we're not talking about a franchise QB here, but a guy like Vick brings no upside to the table as, at the very best, he might give the Jets a few games of slightly better play until the Jets find themselves back in the same position they were without him, but with less games to develop / evaluate another QB.

I believe his "benching" was based on the fact he was injured and Foles came in and became the highest rated QB in the NFL. He really wasn't benched, he simply got injured and then Chip obviously stayed with the hot hand.

Hey - can you shrink that signature up?  We aren't too big on rules like that here but I am having to scroll down a ton when you post a few times in a thread.

Thanks.

Beats the heck out of me, I didn't put it on there and I have no idea how to get rid of it. If you want to shrink it, or remove it, have at it. The one that was just added with this pool scene is somewhat "disturbing"

I agree, for as bad as these dude's are, all showed some ability. Just that none showed the ability and the leadership qualities etc. to ever trust them as your next Franchise QB, and obviously that is what all teams are looking for. I have no doubt that all 3 or 4 if you include Barkley, will all find some level of success in the NFL, but unfortunately, none will rise to the accepted level of Solid starter, and certainly none are FRANCHISE material.

I don't think you are finding a franchise guy in this draft either and these guys are going to be drafted much higher than last year.

Not one out of?

Manziel

Bortles

Bridgewater

Mettenberger

Carr

Garrapolo

Murray

My guess is there are at least TWO Franchise guys in this group and at least FOUR very solid starters.

I can see that, but I never really considered domestic cats to be "living" anyways. Such malignant narcissists, they're more like vampires than anything.

Ah. Well in that sense, I guess T0m is a cat person.

We'll see.  Good luck getting a top 2 pick to pick one of those two guys....whoever they are.  Getting Geno in the second round is going to look like a bargain when we see the busts that get drafted in the first round this year.

Don't be so defensive dude, the Chick-fil-A would have made you fat anyways.

Not being defensive. Just honest. I don't mind the pictures being added, the coors lite bottles were pretty cool, the bud lite dog is actually pretty awesome, but the "pool party" , uh, maybe not. They just pop up all of a sudden and take me by surprise.

Wow, remember though, that this will have to be one heck of a bust, because your "bargain basement GENO" was dead LAST in quarterback rating in the NFL this year, and last I knew, it is quite hard to get worse than LAST, right?

Yeah, but in those awful stats were 6 or 7 pretty good games that gave you some hope he can play in this league as at least a priority back up.  Wait until you see some of the disasters coming from this upcoming class.

Well, yeah, that and the fact I feel like I'm on a gay porn site (not far from reality but still)

I didn't, and never had a sig. They just keep popping up unexpectedly. I have never changed or copied or added any of these photo's etc., and as I said, this one by the pool is very disturbing.
