I like it, helps out that CB depth. Wouldn't be surprised if they draft a guy still since they have so many picks. The Cromartie situation will be really interesting to follow. Cutting and re-signing him on the cheap seems to make a lot of sense, but I wonder if that's in the cards for Idzik. If they want to try to re-sign Cromartie I bet Idzik waits a bit to cut him just to get a sense of the CB market.

Hey Larzlick, can you at least let the free agency period come and go before you start crying like a little bitch. Put your skirt back on.

Great. Both solid players for depth and specials.

Hey... haven't you watched "Goodfella's"? Larz is a "made man"  You can't touch him!!

Henry Hill: You know, we always called each other good fellas. Like you said to, uh, somebody, :You're gonna like this guy. He's all right. He's a good fella. He's one of us.: You understand? We were good fellas. Wiseguys. But Jimmy and I could never be made because we had Irish blood. It didn't even matter that my mother was Sicilian. To become a member of a crew you've got to be one hundred per cent Italian so they can trace all your relatives back to the old country. See, it's the highest honor they can give you. It means you belong to a family and crew. It means that nobody can **** around with you. It also means you could **** around with anybody just as long as they aren't also a member. It's like a license to steal. It's a license to do anything. As far as Jimmy was concerned with Tommy being made, it was like we were all being made. We would now have one of our own as a member.

Solid moves by the Jets. Loved how Walls played last year. Both could see expanded roles in 2014.

Walls JNRsmall150NY Jets make a smart move and bring back some play makers they are familiar with six days before the start of free agency, Ellis Lankster and Darrin Walls.  Lankster was in 382 special team plays last season and ended the season with 20 kick coverage tackles. He has been an important player on special teams and new special team’s head coach Thomas McGaughey will surely like to make use of him.

Darrin Walls showed a ton of potential last season playing in all 16 games and was solid when he replaced Dee Milliner for a few games. Walls started his career as an undrafted free agent and was signed to the Jets’ practice squad in September of 2012.

Both signings solidify some depth at the cornerback position and may possibly change up the Jets strategy going into the 2014 NFL draft. Cornerback Antonio Cromartie is expected to be released before a $5 million roster bonus becomes due on March 13. The move will save $9.5 million on the salary cap but it appears the Jets are interested in bringing Cromartie back if they can negotiate a more cap friendly contract.

Make sure to check out our New York Jets Forums to find out what the rest of Jets Nation is saying about these signings.

Damn.  That's a bunch of plays AND tackles.  I knew Lankster was a special teamer, but that is more than I expected. I wonder about Trufant.  He's had some good games on specific matchups in the slot.

Lankster is a good special teamer and Walls may need to caddy for another fairly high draft pick this season, like he did last year.
