Dexter McCluster signs three-year contract with Titans

Former Kansas City Chiefs jitterbug and punt-returner extraordinaire Dexter McCluster is heading back to the South.

A source tells NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport that the former Ole Miss star is signing with the Tennessee Titans on a three-year contract worth up to $12 million. The deal includes $4.5 million in guarantees.

Although McCluster has been limited primarily to slot-receiver duties on offense the past two seasons, we suspect he's returning to the backfield under new Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt.

McCluster offers a similar skill-set to waterbug Danny Woodhead, who nearly doubled his career-high in receptions while thriving as Whisenhunt's passing-down specialist at tailback.

Under that scenario, Shonn Greene would play the Ryan Mathews role as the early-down hammer.

We like this fit. McCluster is a game-breaking return ace offering Whisenhunt the versatility to get creative against nickel and dime packages and move the chains in the two-minute drill.

In the latest edition of the "Around The League Podcast," the guys study the free agency picture with the help of NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.
