My case for Maroney

In 2003, as a true freshman, he amassed 1,121 yards on 162 carries giving him a 6.9 ypc avg. Add on to that 10 touchdowns all while splitting carries.

2004, 1,348 on 217 carries for 6.2 ypc avg along with 12 TD's, once again splitting carries.

2005, 1,464 on 281 carries for a 5.2 ypc avg. with 10 touchdowns.

This while putting up big games against very tough Big Ten defenses. Including 25 carries for 127 yds and a TD versus the best run defense in the nation in Ohio St.

This kid is decisive and powerful. All he needs to do is add about 5-10 pounds to his 5'11" 205 lb frame.

I'd rather have Maroney than Deangelo Williams, thats for sure.

But I'm not high on Maroney either. I want to see him run the 40. I watched alot at least 4 minnesota games this year, and I just dont think Maroney is this burner everybody says he is.

It wouldnt surprise me to see Maroney pull a Kevin Jones - Run a dissapointing 40 time and slip on draft day.

I'd rather have Lendale White.

EB trust me on this one. I have a knack for RB's. I wanted Quentin Griffin as a late rounder a few years back, who drafts him? Mike Shanahan RB guru. Then the next year I wanted Tatum Bell in like the 3rd round, no one was calling for him, who drafts him? Shanahan again. Last draft I prayed for Ryan Moats and although he's sitting behind Westbrook, he's certainly showed some big flashes.

Although I won't cry if we trade down and draft White and Eslinger. I just don't think we'll be able to trade down and still get both of them. That's why I think it's more feasible to root for the Gopher connection.

I am not at all high on Maroney. I just do not trust a back that has an offensive line like that in front of him with a first rounder. A ton of backs could have run for miles with Eslinger and Setterstorm blocking for them. Plus, Minnesota is well known for their system, as Marion Barber was drafted out of there last year.

DeAngelo Williams is my top choice, but I'd rather LenDale White than Maroney.
