Im not worried at all. Milliner showed that the injury and lack of offseason seemed to be the reason for the slow start. A healthy Dimitri Patterson would be better than a declining Antonio Cromartie. Not interrupting Antonio Allen's progress would be a great idea, draft a FS. Most of all, the Jets need to score points themselves.

This presumes Patterson will be healthy himself, or even that he'll be healthier than Cromartie.

It's a legit concern.  We'll see what we end up with in the draft, or if we pick up some other veteran.

Look, it's all about the pass rush. We already tried it with the best CBs in the league (Revis and Cro in their prime) and still just got chopped to pieces from the slot and the TE positions. We need a new Sack Exchange if we want or hope to go anywhere.

4 uninjured games at a high level is better than 16 dinged games sucking.  They may still be waiting out the Texans on Jonathan Joseph.  There was talk of him being a cap casualty.

No doubt.

Same thing for a player's career.  It's better to get a few years of a lights-out awesome difference-maker than 2-3x that of a "solid" or "reliable" player.

At the same time, do we know that Patterson's 4 games would be at a high level and that he wasn't dinged up himself? I don't profess to be any sort of expert on the player.

The Jets have done well the past few years with injuries/injured players. It is a legit concern though, can't deny it.

maybe Rex learned that you can't always call for 1-on-1 coverage when you have a broken down CB with a bum hip?

if this defense can stop giving up so many big plays it will easily be back in the top 10.    It's a lot to ask of a rookie to step in and start as a DB but this team is likely going into TC 1-injury away from disaster in the secondary.

Shoot yourself.

homers usually react this way when faced with reality.

without major improvement in QB play it doesn't really matter what the record is.

unless you make it to the playoffs despite said shaky QB play (as in Sanchez's first two years). problem is jets defense is nowhere near as good as it was back then, so you are right in the sense that the defense cannot carry a bum QB into the playoffs this year.

Smartest thing said in this thread to date.

jets were the luckiest 8-8 team in history last year. without a major improvement in QB play this is a 5 win team.

According to the Idzik fanboys, we should win 8 games just by showing up. Never mind that he hasn't made the necessary improvements to this team, Idzik's mere presence in the building will compel us to victory!

Amazing that they finished 1, 5, 6 and 2nd in passing in the years 2009-2012 without an elite pass rush and with being chopped to pieces from the slot and TE.

We got some of the worst secondary play last year from Milliner in the beginning and Cro just about all year for whatever the reason for him-it would seem we will have improvement in that area with any luck

I actually think the Jets have both improved and will have a worse record next year. Many will think a better team will automatically do better than 8-8 but there was a historic level of good fortune behind that record last year.
