The New York Jets will be without one of their starting offensive linemen for the foreseeable future.

Jets coach Rex Ryan announced Wednesday that guard Willie Colon will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee after suffering an injury during a workout.

"Safe to say, it's going to be a while," Ryan said.

Colon was a 16-game starter in his first season in New York last season. He stayed with the Jets on a one-year, $2 million deal in March.

Colon, 31, had been working his way back from a torn biceps tendon suffered in last season's finale. Now Colon will be rehabbing from two surgeries at once, and should be considered questionable to be ready for the start of the season.

The depth chart behind Colon includes 2013 sixth-round pick William Campbell and 2014 fourth-round pick Dakota Dozier.

The latest "Around The League Podcast" breaks down the news and discusses players who could be summertime trade targets.

this was always the problem with Colon. Penalties and injuries.

Yea - let's all ignore the Oline - it's all good.

They used a 4th rounder on a player who can probably step in early at this spot.

Campbell is another name.

it's also possible they put Dozier in Winters' spot and move Winters to RG.

they had depth at C that season as well until Ducasse got the backup's leg broken with his suckitude.

I don't think so, the kid who came in was on the team for like 3 weeks wasn't he? It was one of Tanny's brilliant depth band-aids going into the season.

First Mangold went down. Then Vlad rolled over ROB Turner. Then "the kid" Colin Baxter came in and was terrible. Eventually slauson got the job.

I had to look it up Colin Baxter is currently in the arena league

Who was the "reverse pancake" guy that started here for a season or two?

Yet, on the bright side, we had the depth to handle it. This shouldn't be like when Mangold went down and the season was over in week 3.

The Depth to handle it ?? Seriously ?

Winters obviously has a lot to prove

Aboushi we really know nothing about in real game play

Dozier we know nothing about

What this looks like more than anything is a total disaster for the middle of our line. Our QB already has issues stepping up into the pocket and setting properly to throw the football.

On the bright side Its only a scope and players recover in record time these days from scopes so he should be ready for camp.

This team better try and sign a Vet capable of playing the position or we may have another 2011 on our hands when we almost got our QB killed by totally ignoring the OL.

When will this ******* team realize you win games in the trenches for what we do as an offense the OL is the most important part of our success and it has not been the same since 09 I mean WTF has this team added on the OL since 2010 ? What a joke

we have not much real info. scope could mean anything.

its not even clear that this injury is worse than the bicep rupture at the end of last season.  By preseason he could have totally rehabbed the knee and still be coming back from the bicep.

It will be really interesting to see where he is at.  There has literally been no news regarding his development/transition.
