Stop telling me to get an iPhone

I want to go on record as saying, I don't care what kind of phone everyone else uses.  I have been an Android user for a long time.  Why? Because Apple had an exclusive with AT&T and I was in a Verizon contract.  So many years ago, I waited for the first Android phone and have been really happy ever since.

I am glad that everyone is also happy with their iPhones.

But I am getting tired of people telling me to switch to an iPhone.  I always ask why.  They say, "because it is better".

LOL - okay got it.  Let me go right out and do that.  I am happy with my phone, if the iPhone crowd can leave me alone that would be great haha.  I just read the newest release info and there were announcements about things that I have been doing for years on my Droid.  Like texting from my desktop and battery apps.

Again to everyone on an iPhone, I am happy for you. But I am also happy for myself, not being on an iPhone.  The world is a big place, I think there is room for more than one phone O\S.  :)

I stopped buying what people told me when they were all wearing:

  • Members Only jackets  - they couldn't tell me what they were members OF.
  • Parachute pants - none of them had any plan to actually parachute
  • "North Face" coats - worn by fat Americans who can't walk up stairs, much less the north face of something.
  • Shirts with sleeves that roll up and are held by a little strap. - if my falling sleeves are a crisis for you, suck it up.
  • Socks that can't be seen above the shoe. -- Is seeing 1 inch of sock that bad?  Sorry but I'm not rubbing blisters into my ankles just to accomodate your phobias.

And yeah, iphones are just another case of misery loving company.

Get a blackberry

My first BB was when the curve came out in 2008 and then the curve 2 two years later. I still have them both as backups to my iphone 5s. Max is right though. you can thank dumbass apple for the Love of the android. had they not been exclusive to ATT droid would have never owned the market share until apple said ''wait a minute'' anybody can get an iphone now lol

I liked my old one...this one doesnt have a keypad, its all touch screen. I hate it.

BB10?  It's like a status thing here.  Even thought they suck, at least people don't know you are on blackberry.  One of the perks of my position is that we don't get blackberrys so they can't reach me off hours.  It takes us so long to approve a new operating system I'll be long gone before they allow anything else.

Maybe, I'm not so sure. There has always been a market for people who don't like Apple products. Had it not happened through shortsighted exclusivity, Google probably would have found some other way because Schmidt's a genius and people have historically been willing to trade the benefits of Apple products for lower priced yet more powerful devices. That goes way back even to the PC wars.

Yeah the Z10 I believe. Writing an email on it takes an hour. Have an iphone for personal use...but for work I liked the keypad because of the volume of emails. The new phone I dread getting an email on.

My kids all have I phones and it seems to be popular for the childrens.  I have an Android like you because my fingers are fat and distorted and I phones are tiny.

Im fat and would never wear a North Face jacket.  They seem like really expensive irregular made jackets because the name tag is on the back. I also get annoyed when people refer to them as "Their Northface" it's a freaking jacket.  Matter of fact a freaking jacket with the name tag on the wrong side.

Android is superior to iPhone in every way but image.

Android is an operating system. iPhone is a mobile device.

You should either be comparing Android to Apple OS... or a Samsung, Mororola or LG phone running Android to the iPhone.

Either way you are incorrect, and so is anyone else assuming one device or operating system is "better". The reality is that BOTH do a great job of anticipating and meeting user needs, while also delivering on the brand promise of both Apple and Google.

Apple's sole advantage is limited line extension, less options is proven to make brand stronger. Google is at the mercy of other manufacturers and a marketplace flooded with too wide a range of phone options that make bad battery life and bad product design part if the user experience that Android is measured against.

In other words, they are peers as long as Android is running on a phone equal in specs and design to the iPhone.

The 24 hour battery life on the Moto X is pretty cool.  I love being at events when everyones phone is dying while mine isn't.  Good stuff.

I have a galaxy s4 and my phone hasn't been charged in three days. On top og that I have two spare batteries. I shall never not have a phone. Apple dies every 6 hours.

Yes the battery life on my Moto X is incredible. I love not having to stress over charging my phone all the time.

I have the Moto X. And it is awesome you should totally switch to it, lol.

That screen is made out of gorilla glass? Can you deflect bullets with your moto x? And do your pants fall down when you put it in your pocket?

I have to keep reminding myself that this is a guy that bought a Chrysler 300.

I had an iPhone for two years. iPhone burns out after year one, give or take. Some part of the hardware can't hang with the usage. Anyway, figured I would try droid. I got a Google Nexus 5 and I run it on AT&T. I mean, droid is so much further ahead of the game, it's a joke.

I thoroughly enjoy playing 'ok Google'/'ask siri' with my wife and other iPhone 5 users. I tend to get 3-4 more answers than they do. My phone has little tabs that update on the right most home screen depending on what I'm searching for, reading etc. I never told it that I was flying and yet it put a tiny airplane on top of my phone and told me my flight was delayed. Friends have returned multiple iPhone apiece since I bought this droid and it's still running like the day I got it.

I think the biggest advantage that iPhone has is the seemless transfer of music between iTunes and iPhone. Otherwise they are behind the curve in every possible way. Also apple is incredibly sneaky in "applifying" everything you let it touch.

Take a pic? It's in the photos section that doesn't easily retrieve on the Mac. Contacts? To the cloud. Other people have you in their phone as iPhone? Torture trying to tell everyone that you need to be sms now/unregister your number from imessage. Pain in the ass.

Good companies don't try to make it like defecting from Cuba when you leave. They motivate you to stay with excellence. I won't get rid of my Mac laptop though. It's truly top notch. Phone not so much

They are peers in the same way that Tom Brady and Geno Smith are peers.

Preach on brother.  Unfortunately, just over one week ago I was strong-armed by my company into making the switch to iPhone, as it was either that or carry around two phones all the freakin' time.  Before that I was an adamant user of Android phones and definitely miss it.  While iPhone certainly has its benefits, it's not the superior piece of equipment so many try to paint it as.  Some of the differences are just subtle things you need to get used to, but there's other parts that are not so great.  The lack of support for micro-USB and SD cards is the biggest load of crap in the cell phone industry and tells you how much effort they put into NOT being customer friendly or providing any degree of compatibility, all in order to screw over their own customers ($100 to get a phone with another 8GB of storage space?  Are you ******* kidding me?).  Kind of ironic that Apple based their initial resurgence on not being like the evil folks at Microsoft, and yet these days they're even worse.  And consider I was actually a pretty big Apple fan for quite a while, but I'm really done with them.  Don't get me wrong, good for them that they can get away with all of this from a business standpoint, but I definitely would be done as a customer of theirs if not for my company.

Beyond that, the iPhone's keyboard is complete and utter dog sh*t and, of course, they refuse to allow you to switch the keyboard (unless of course you jailbreak the phone).  The iPhone seriously has to be amongst the least compatible pieces of technology on the market.

Ok, rant over... I look forward to the angry responses from the fans. :)
