You realize you're on probation here from this point going forward, right?

You know, not being a Lennon fan, I looked through his and McCartney's compilations. TOGETHER they wrote and performed terrific songs.

In A Good Marriage, The Whole Is Greater Than The Sum Of Its Parts.

Darn you little Asian seductress! You blew a good thing....

We all know without Ringo the Beatles would have never made it big.

On a more serious note, if John never met Paul, John never gets to ride Paul's coat tails to fame and would still be alive and probably retired from a career playing gigs at weddings and bah mitzvahs.

Listen, "In an Octopus's Garden in the Shade" never gets the recognition it deserves as one of the greatest songs ever written! :- )

McCartney was the musical talent in that group, followed by Harrison. I believe even w/o Lennon, McCartney would have found fame.... just to a lesser extent, obviously. I don't think Lennon would have gone nearly as far. He probably would have been a Socialist "Community Organizer:

Please keep it to ignorant musical opinions, no politics. Thanks. :)

Ohmygawd.  It was just obvious that Paul had a nice voice and wrote a nice romantic tune.  John was obviously the driving force behind the Beatles, pushing them into doing different things that they never would have tried.  Without John, no concept albums or other departures from the norm.

What I think about that really doesnt matter but George Martin would strongly disagree with what you say.

A couple of years after the Beatles broke up, it turned out that what really broke them up was not so much Yoko, but Paul under the influence of Linda.  She figured Paul should run the show, he was the best one, so that collaborative relationship between Paul and John took a hit.  Even George and Ringo admitted that once he got with Linda, Paul was trying to tell George how to play guitar and Ringo how to play drums.  George Martin's opinion is all very good, but if you listen to their songs you can pretty well which song was largely Paul and which was largely John.

For what it's worth, the feud between the two wasn't as big as some say.  They had their ins and outs, but they were communicating and calling each other during this period anyway.

It's a pretty well known fact that very early on Lennon and McCartney struck an agreement and agreed to co-credit all songs they wrote regardless of which of the two truly wrote it. They have said their writing collaboration was pretty much limited to  helping each other if stuck for a lyric, key, tempo etc. but that they really never sat down, brainstormed and wrote songs together. Also, both are on record saying that it was easy to figure out who the real writer of any particular song was. If it was credited as a Lennon/McCartney tune, whoever really wrote it, sang lead vocal on it.

It was largely the void left when Brian Epstein died. Brian loved the Beatles, and they were loyal to him - even though he had become less reverent when the stopped touring. When he died, they hired Allen Klein, who was basically a thief. Paul recognized this (rightly) but tried to convince the group to hire his father-in-law to represent the group instead. The other three balked at what looked like a power play by Paul. The Beatles broke up officially when Paul sued the rest of the band for dissolution.

There was definitely Yoko tension, too. John kept her around all the time, included her in recordings, and was growing tired of being a Beatle, himself. The breakup was inevitable.

All these insights are very interesting. Always thought it was the Yoko Ono straw that stirred up all the troubles.

Jets D will be good, probably top 15, maybe top 10.

But we're uber-young and inexperienced at CB and Safety, and we're going to be burned in the passing game....probably alot.  Especially early.

It will be a minor miracle if our D-backfield can keep us in games the first half of the season, it's certainly possible, but not probable.

If they get a ton of help from the D-line in the pass rush, that will do wonders, but we could be starting a 2nd year CB (who looked bad 89% of the season last year), a rookie CB, a rookie big-hitter-weak-pass-defender Safety and a JAG Safety as our D-backs.

Every QB in the NFL will want to test that group early and often, till they prove they can stop the long ball and passing game.

This is without question the Jets biggest challenge on D in 2014.

Imagine that Milliner continues his strong play from the last quarter of last season into this season.  Which would also mean that as the season progressed he would only get better and the fact that he's only 22 years old helps.  Imagine that the Jets defense gets better due to, what I think, are huge upgrades in the secondary.

Imagine that Geno also continues his solid play from the last quarter of last season into this season.  Imagine that with all the added weapons and potential weapons in Decker, Kerley, Johnson, Amaro, Saunders etc he gets even better to where the Jets have a somewhat competent offense in Year 2 of Mornhinweg's offense.  The thought of all those guys named being on the field on offense at the same time is awesome in how if you're a defensive coordinator who will you defend with all the options the Jets have out there.

Imagine it all just gels which isn't a crazy impossibility.  I think this is the season that the Jets overtake the Patriots I really do.  I just see it all clicking.  Geno did decent last season and got them to 8-8 with zero weapons. He had no one.  I couldn't even name an offense impact player who's jersey I would get for the Jets because they had none.  Now they have a few.  I think the defense last season was good enough to get them into the playoffs and farther.  They will be better this season and if they do get better and our offense is even slightly above average I think the Jets can and will surprise.

And imagine Hill decides to wake up and be an NFL Wide Receiver.  Biggest X Factor in the league right there.  I think the offense right now has all the pieces to be really really good.  I think Hill performing to his potential and being a 6'5'' receiver who runs a 4.4 makes the Jets great because the offense would be unstoppable.

Sorry for the rant I'm just crazy pumped for this season

Thoughts?

Great post.  I'm excited for the Jets season.  Defense is awesome.  Offense got faster and Geno has more experience.  Easily see us with 10+ wins and shot a deep playoff run.
