Eric Decker On Playing For The Jets

Eric Decker

I think it is just the overall experience. What New York brings to the table, it’s a lot of culture, and it’s a lot of passion. I understand that the fans are very excited about this season. We have a job to do to perform on the field and give them our best. On top of that just the good food, the opportunities, Broadway shows, and different things we can access. We probably have more access to that in the offseason. And getting to be part of this community. This is one of the best cities, if not the best city in our country. I am looking forward to having these opportunities.

He likes the food and shows. Translation, we're not winning more than 8 games.

Please elaborate... How does liking what NYC has to offer mean that the team won't win more than 8 games?  I guess when the Giants won the Super Bowl, no one liked NYC?

So you get the impression that he's all about winning?

That's my point. He doesn't sound encouraging at all. Seems like he's here for a lot of other stuff besides winning a SB.

I'm sorry I just think we overpaid for him big time. Guy caught like 60 balls in 2 years before Manning. Now he's playing behind a bar offensive line and terrible QB. 7.5 million for a guy who was a 3rd-4th option and has been shut down by opposing teams number 2-3 cb.

Well, the Jets paid the most for him. That's how free agency works. The early speculation was that Decker would get upwards of $10M/year, though, so we really shouldn't be too upset with the $7.5M figure. The team spent that money because they recognized their receivers were terrible. He was the top WR on the market, and now he's the best receiver on the team. So far, the early reports from camp are that Decker is running crisp routes and catching everything that comes his way, so it sounds as if he managed to look over the playbook between dinner and a show.

But oh yeah, that's right, you're a troll.

You didn't answer my question.

As far as yours, I do not see a correlation between liking NYC and not "being all about winning."

The amount of gymnastics you're doing to take another shot at the team is nothing short of pathetic.

Again, in their two recent Super Bowl victories, did anyone on the Giants like NYC? Hint: Eli Manning owns (or did at the time) an apartment in probably the nicest luxury condo building in Hoboken and drove a black Lamborghini. That sounds like enjoying the NYC life. Guess he hated winning.

I'm glad Decker is here. I think Decker will do relatively well here, but I don't think for a second that Decker came here for any reason that has to do with football.

Was it money? Like every free agent in the league?

If he likes the food and the shows Imagine how much he's going to like the attention him and his wife get ..... While he certainly can come here and coast we better hope he does not go down that road. I don't think he's that type player but.......

Nobody was giving Eric Decker 10+ LOL.

Nobody!

If you did your homework son you would know he isn't the best route runner and only ran a few a game. Plus inconsistent hands. 7.5 is too muvh. Guy is worth 5.5 tops. Again we're paying him to be our number one. He's never shown he can handle that. He's been shut down by opposing teams 2nd-3rd cb many times. When a team doesn't have to worry about our number 1 its a huge problem. There isnt one guy on our team that will demand double coverage. Big problems trying to win games.
