Shaq Evans, IR.

Certainly not a surprise, I think it's safe to say we all saw this coming, it was just a matter of when.

Quick question, does anyone know if it's past the date where IRed players can be claimed off of waivers by other teams?  I had originally thought that wasn't for another week and it originally seemed that's what the Jets were waiting for before making this move.

His statement is going to be made tomorrow. Still no idea. He had surgery today, I believe.

Between his situation and now Saunders....just completely bizarre. Mcdougle I get, ACL there's no in between....but with the WR's it seems like a big secret. There werent any reports on Evans hurting himself in practice...just Rex announcing Evans had hurt his shoulder 'pretty bad.'

Yeah, definitely seems like something is missing. Apparently no statement coming. All I see so far:

A fourth-round pick out of UCLA, Evans sat out practice for the first time on Aug. 1, when head coach Rex Ryan told reporters, "I never saw that coming, but that’s something that today he was complaining about his shoulder this morning."

By Aug. 5 Ryan said Evans's shoulder "looks pretty bad" and that "it doesn't look good right now." Last week, Ryan said he doesn't see Evans "coming back any time soon."

On Tuesday, Ryan said Evans had hurt his other shoulder before being drafted by the Jets, but that this injury was far worse.

Evans had been at practice each day before Tuesday, though he usually spent his time there since his injury working with the trainers, typically by riding a stationary bike. Evans had also missed rookie minicamp and organized team activities in the spring because UCLA is on the quarter system and he didn't graduate until mid-June.

This is what Evans tweeted:

Going under the knife today. Praying for a speedy recovery! #prayforme #minorsetbackforamajorcomeback

Yeah, strange. Was his arm falling off? This makes as much sense as the Saunders accident. The only conclusion you can come to is they're not even close to being ready for the league and the organization needed to figure out a way to stash them.

It certainly seems like a previous injury and not something that happened in camp.

anyone know what the difference is between IR and waived/injured?

Rex said today that Shaq told the team he woke up with the injury but Shaq has had injuries to his shoulders in the past and this pain was much worse. Do to the extent of the injury which ultimately needed surgery Rex said it's obvious it was more to it than just waking up to it and was probably caused by getting hit a few days prior and not feeling it until later on. Either way he's done for the year, hopefully better news on Saunders tomorrow who I expected more out of anyway especially on ST.

Does anyone know how he got hurt or did the Jets have to put something together to get him on IR because he was so lost in practice?

Please----who is more lost than Stephen Hill? They could have IR's him in that case---for alligator arms. The guy got hurt. You hurt your shoulder falling down and landing wrong.
