JetNation
New York Jets rookie receiver Jalen Saunders was injured in a car accident on August 15, as reported by Brian Costello: Jets announce rookie WR Jalen Saunders involved in a 1-car accident this AM. Taken to the hospital to be monitored as a precaution. #nyj — Brian Costello (@BrianCoz) August 15, 2014 The events leading up to the crash are still mysterious. All that is known for sure is that Saunders suffered from some type of “medical incident“, as reported by NBC Sports, before crashing his vehicle. The details are still foggy. The Jets can only hope that Saunders, who was expected to be the team’s punt returner, can make his way back onto to field quickly. Wide receiver was one of New York’s weakest positions last year, and, despite adding players like Eric Decker and Jacoby Ford during free agency, they still need a lot of help. By recently placing rookie Shaq Evans on injured reserve earlier this week the Jets have added to the urgency of this situation. They need Saunders back. And fast. There is not a wealth of information regarding this topic, as the Jets and head coach Rex Ryan have been very reserved when discussing this issue. For Jet fans everywhere, let’s hope Saunders return comes sooner, rather than later. View the full article

BurnleyJet
Amaro Too bad Idzik didn't anticipate Saunders' health concern. Figures...leave it to the Jets... The wide receiver Draft was very deep, our net return regardless of any unfortunate issues they had is very poor. I like Idzik but he blow it when he did not move up in the draft, he sat and picked a ton of Jags or Burger flippers. We had plenty of ammo but did not use it. Jettington
given the bizarre details of the situation, single car crash, some medical issue, I thought Saunders might have narcolepsy, that rare sleeping disorder where you just go out randomly, maybe it happened behind the wheel. Moncrief is going to be very good. the WRs we drafted im not happy with any of them

While it certainly doesn't look to provide immediate dividends, there's absolutely no way you can write off a WR draft class before the first regular season even starts. I mean sweet Jesus. Evans actually has talent and I wouldn't be surprised to see Enunwa step up at some point. Give it time.

joewilly12
This Years Receiver Draft for the Jets is a total Bust. Agree so far so much for how deep a draft it was for WRs. Whats Braylon Edwards up to these days?

Jets Voice of Reason
he drafted 3 WR's. that is a reasonable strategy. you are arguing against the results I'm not particuarly impressed with what we did long-term at WR with the 3 we did pick injuries or not. I'm okay with taking a flyer on a guy like Enunwa since he's raw but has upside but I think Evans and Saunders have limited upsides and I think that it's really a disappointment they ended up with the guys they picked in a draft class that was ultra deep at WR. He isn't even the best one we passed on, John Brown from Pitt St. who the Jets brought in for a workout was lighting up the Cardinals camp, nobody could cover him Cro, Patterson, or Honey Badger, he tweaked a hamstring first week of August, and haven't heard much about him since, but he will be their 3rd WR this year I believe, and can be a good bet to break out. Arizona took him with their 3rd rounder a few picks after the Jets took McDougle.

JetsFanInDenver
in a draft considered very deep at receiver only the jets could fail at drafting one Actually the best WR they drafted potential wise is Enunwa. He still might be a player. I just think the JETS fudged up their draft for the 3 picks they had in the 3rd and the 4th round even though MacDougal looked like a player. Matt39
What's silly about it? 4th rounder on a PR is almost as bad as drafting a fullback or kicker. Too many more versatile players available at that point. And with the space we had, signing a guy to be the return specialist would have been ideal imo.
