Michael Sam is a free agent

He's his own worst enemy right now. If it weren't for the media frenzy that would follow him, a good defensive- minded coach like Rex would probably be able to find a spot for him as a situational pass rusher. The problem is most teams probably feel the media spotlight isn't worth the trouble.

Rex only finds "situational pass rushers" in the first round.

Idk I think he's worth a look. Try not to see this in terms of media circus please.

Other than the one dumbass reporter asking how he feels in the shower, it was pretty much all football for Sam.

He had a very good 4th preseason game, but it was all against 2, 3's and 4's.

I don't think he got too many reps with the 1's.

He had a couple of decent speed rushes against linemen that will be delivering mail next week. He looked pretty brutal overall though. Ok against the run I guess...but whenever he went up against a decent linemen he got buried. Plus the kid he was competing against for a roster spot for had a really strong camp apparently.

I think villain said it best earlier.. Someone will pick him up. He's not first string material but he's definitely got a future as a situational player. The media will only go bananas in a major market like ours or Boston etc. But make no mistake that they will. And that shower question was not only a disgrace but probably fabricated.

I was thinking along the same lines.  Doesn't necessarily mean it actually happened that way, but the Rams definitely have a built-in "out" for letting him go.

True, it did seem rather funny that the entire league passed on him, yet the team that needs no depth at his particular position is the team that drafts him. I could understand Sam being on the board after the 3rd round, but can the Rams, or any team in the league for that matter, honestly say that there were better players in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and most of the 7th round over the SEC defensive player of the year? This is why when I seen the pick I was a bit skeptical, because I thought of the same thing you did..."This team has a built-in out for letting him go and it keeps the view of the NFL in good standing". I really hope that didnt happen, but it really looks like it very well could have. Nonetheless, It sucks because Sam can really play football. Hopefully this can be a benefit for the Jets because I wouldn't mind him playing for this team for as long as they seriously cut the nonsense about his personal life.

Guys, who cares if he likes dudes. If he can sack the QB then he should get a spot on an NFL roster. The issue is really what position should play LB or DE. If you can figure out where he plays then you pick him up as an FA.

Is he a DE or LB? Or maybe someone uses him as a Babin type specialist?
