T0mShane
Sorry, Phillip Adams The Jets today signed CB Phillip Adams, a veteran free agent who had been released by the Seattle Seahawks. To make room on their 53-man roster for Adams, the Jets have waived sixth-round rookie WR Quincy Enunwa. Adams (5'11", 195) was a seventh-round selection in the 2010 NFL Draft out of South Carolina State by San Francisco. He spent time with the 49ers that season, the Patriots and Seahawks in 2011, the Raiders in 2012 and '13, and the Seahawks again this offseason and preseason. He was a final cut by Seattle on Saturday. He's played in 53 games (four starts, all with Oakland) and for his career has three interceptions, eight pass defenses, 51 defensive tackles and 11 special teams tackles. Enunwa was the second of our four sixth-round selections in the May draft. He played in all four preseason games and had no receptions.
slats
Said this yesterday, or today. Not surprised. Expected a couple draft picks to get cut after other teams filled out their rosters. This makes it easier to slip Enunwa onto the practice squad.

T0mShane
Added LeQuan Lewis to the practice squad. I hate when they do this. Lewis clearly can't play.

But the spot he is going to be put in early in the season, it just isn't fair to him.

faba
Idzik blew it on Patterson everyone can see that now-so what GM is going to make all the right decisions- lets look at the whole body of work instead of harping on one
RSJ
So THIS is why we kept those draft picks on the roster. So we can cut them when 5 year journeyman shake loose on the waiver wires.

RSJ
more like protect them from waiver claims so you can stash them on your PS. Awesome. Because when your draft pick isn't as good as Phillip Adams, you know you have a diamond in the rough.
Obrien2Toon
Obviously, which is why he should have done his job months ago. Idzik knows this team sucks, why throw money at it. An all pro CB gets us to 8-8 maybe. Save the money for a year or two down the road when we're ready to make a run.

stoicsentry
the bottom of every teams roster is jags why is this an issue ? Pay attention. There are jags all over the field. With the exception of Pryor (an unknown) and Milliner (an up and down, oft-injured sophomore), our entire secondary is filled with jags.
joewilly12
pssst when 12 rookies make the 53, that's a bad sign, not a good sign Considering you are correct but the Gholston,DuCasse,Hill picks come back to haunt you a few years down the road. stoicsentry
Idzik knows this team sucks, why throw money at it. An all pro CB gets us to 8-8 maybe. Save the money for a year or two down the road when we're ready to make a run. There seems to be 2 separate lines of defense for our GM: one is to say, the team's fine, Antonio Allen is totally a starting caliber NFL CB, you can't blame Idzik when his guys get hurt (even if he got them knowing damn well they are injury prone), etc. The other is to say the team sucks, so don't bother making it better right now. While I disagree with both views, at least the latter response has half of the equation right: this team is way too weak to compete at a high level. If Rex does anything with them, he's a miracle worker.
LionelRichie
the bottom of every teams roster is jags why is this an issue ? Your unbridled defense of Idzik is alarming. It's ok to admit that he's had some pretty big blunders since taking over the Jets. In fact, other than trading Revis for a 1st rd pick and signing Decker he really hasn't done much of anything. It's like his entire tenure as GM is based on the success or failure of Geno Smith.

Im not a big Idzik fan at the moment but he drafted Pryor and Amaro 2 big time players who will contribute to this team in free agency yes he did fail at signing a CB and another decent WR.
