How do you rank the Timeout TD?

I dont rank that Time Out TD.

It was bizarre and unfortunate, no doubt.  But it wasnt the end of the game.  They picked up the 4th on the very next play and had 4 more downs to try and score again.  They failed.  Geno missed a wide open Kerley on the next set of downs that easily moves the chains and extends the drive.

Sucked it happened. Very strange situation.  This isnt in the same category as any of the other historic Jets blunders.  Not at all.

In my lifetime, the most painful in order:

#1 Mark Gastineau unnecessarily roughing Bernie Kosar - goes from game over AFC Championship game next week to Kosar leads them down the field for the tying  touchdown, then despite 2 missed FGs by mark Mosley - tired arm Kenny couldnt get us a 1st down after fragile Pat Ryan went out with a concussion...sat through TWO OTs with my thumb squarely up my wazoo.

#2 Richard Todd getting intercepted by AJ Duhe - twice on screen passes -  one pick 6, mfer..

#3 Fake spike - we were gonna lose that game anyone, up 21-6, Carroll and the choke sign did us in, then Boomer attempting a bomb in triple coverage to Stevie Andersen - seriously?????????? (like Zach Sudfeld) gets picked off allowing Miami the chance to win it.

#4 Richard Todd throwing game ending interception in the end zone in the '81 wild card game against Buffalo - that should have been our super bowl year.

#5 1994 at Indy, 4th and 1 almost in FG range to win it (we were 4-3 at the time) Boomer throws a -1 year pass to Rob Moore.

#6 1991 Monday night at Chicago - game is won, running out the clock, Blair Thomas unnecessarily trying for an extra yard fumbles, Harbaugh leads them to a tying score and winning score in OT.

#7 timeout TD yesterday.

#8 The Tuna allowing Ray Lucas and Leon Johnson to throw picks (LJs in the endzone) and denying us a trip to the playoffs.

great list man , # 4 was the first game I recall watching and crying over , I was 10...remember we were down huge , Bruce Harper fumbled the opening kickoff and it got scooped and scored, we came all the way back until Bill Simpson picked Todd

Remember opening day 1990 when ken whisenhunt was our 3rd string TE and told the bengles in pregame warmups we were gonna run a trick play for him at the goal line a some point ? Which we did with the game on the line and they stuffed it...that was fun

The timeout to me was not a big issue. It happens. Its happened to so many teams. When coaches try to ice a kicker at the last minute and finding out he would have missed the FG on the attempt. It happens very often during the regular season and the playoffs. Infact the JETS have never really ever had that happen to them. So its no biggie. They still converted on that 4th down.

The bigger issue is that after so much effort during the off season and the draft the only real upgrade we have in our receiving crops is Decker. When he is out we are back to Kerley the Savior. The disappearance of Nelson and Salas was telling. Cumberland is hurt and not able to contribute 100%. Amaro needs to start firing. The fact he was not an option in the 4th was telling. To me thats the biggest problem. Because the murderer's row of QB's we are going to face the next 5-6 weeks over offense better take the field with the objective of atleast scoring 30 points.  And if Decker is out not sure how they are going to do that.

In the very near future, you will be attempting to convince people that the time-out debacle was actually a good play.
