Is there a QB in this years draft worth tanking for?

I hear people say Mariota is the guy, I mean is he really that good? He comes from a gimmicky offense in the Pac-12. I really want to be persuaded to like a QB prospect but I just don't think there's a sure fire guy there.

Amari Cooper.

I don't think any QB is worth purposely tanking for in this years draft. With that said if the Jets get a high enough pick I think the QB out of Oregon will be first taken.

We are 1-5 we play bad football ...its damn near set in stone this team wont make the playoffs so whether we pick a QB or not why not get the best draft pick ? Would it be better to go 5-11 and miss out on the chance to at least get the top QB in the draft ?

Doesn't seem to be a slam dunk QB at this point. Could see Mariota being worth a shot if the (presumably new) coaching staff likes him. Winston's probably too much of a mess for the Jets to take a shot on, but that'd be interesting.

Randy Gregory wouldn't be a bad direction to go in if the Jets are absolutely horrible and end up in the top 5.

Also probably not a popular opinion, but I'll throw it out there anyway. Amari Cooper is a very good wide receiver and a first round pick, but not the elite top 5 pick WR prospect everyone seems to be saying he is right now.

Gonna have to wait and see if any underclassmen make themselves eligible.

My guess is that the Jets will be looking at FA for a QB. I would love for them to go after a WR in the draft

I dont think there will be a semi-decent QB available in FA. The likes of Culter and Dalton are getting paid by their current teams. So do not see anyone special being available unless Pats sheet can Brady.

No way this can happen for at least two more years.  The cap consequences are ridiculous.  The Pats would be better off just benching him for two years.  It costs more to get rid of him.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if properly developed, Mariota is a rich man's Kaepernick. Get a new regime in here that knows how to develop a QB and I think he could be special.

I don't think there is a slam dunk guy, but I like Mariota a lot.  My only problem with him is the offense, because that's atleast a transition year to come from an offense that pretty much has a system where your first or second read, and then you improvise with a whole bunch of fast guys running around trying to get open.  And I'm not sure about his pure arm strength, he seems to float the ball a bit too much for my liking.

I also don't think he's going to be available when we pick, because we are bound to win atleast 5 games this year, so someone like the Rams or Bucs will go after him IMO.  I think we should take a a tackle with the top pick that can pass protect well, then see if someone like Kevin White drops to our pick in the second round, and pair him with a free agent signing.  My dream offseason would be pairing Demariyus Thomas with Decker, then pick White in the second.  Even Crabtree/Bryant/Smith works as well instead of Thomas.  But the whole plan has to be, we need another very good established guy across from Decker, paired with a high draft pick.

Agreed. A true #1 is a necessity. Phil Simms said it last night, when the Jets get into the Red Zone, they are limited because they don't have "that guy". They have to try to "trick you" etc. Every game it becomes more obvious.

Bryce Petty in the second round if he last that long. A. Cooper in the first round.

I was at the WVU Baylor game this week, he was unimpressive and both our starting corners went down, and even the starting corners that went down aren't that good
