OS X Yosemite

I literally do not notice any difference except the icons in my dock now look like the ones on my phone. All of the promoting they're doing about syncing capability is the same as it was with the last OS.

They could be on their way to making an integrated operating system. There's been rumors of an iPad Pro coming out next year. Most of the talk has been about it having a bigger screen, but a lot of professionals have gone back to laptops because of the iPad's limitations, and Windows already has the laptop/tablet hybrid.

I generally like Yosemite so far. For starters, the nerds are all fired up for all the stuff supposedly going on in the background. In absence of contradictory information, I will take their word on that and call it a win.

Secondly, I think it's a little smoother. From what I do know and wish to do, is to save my important data which isn't much, wipe the computer and do a fresh installation. Supposedly that's really where you see a difference.

Third, FaceTime is now allowing you to make calls into and out of your computer via your iPhone as long as they're both on the same wifi network. Also, the current message platform that integrates between phone and laptop is expanding to allow SMS off the computer via that same connection. To me that's a great set of features.

I understand, I'm sure for professionals there is stuff here that helps, but for the casual user everything new that Apple does seems so minor. A hardware tweak here, a software update there...etc. I've been using Apple for a very long time, and the new products and new software they used to put out used to be innovative. Nowadays, I'm not so sure, the products seem stale and I'm getting tired of having to update my software on the things I do buy on a weekly basis. It all comes down to the fact that Jobs was just irreplaceable. I had to go into the Apple store the other day and I finally saw the iPhone Plus, and it just made me sad. It's been several years and the biggest innovation that they've made regarding the phone (since around the 4) is that they made a bigger version of it, but not TOO big because of the iPad Mini. I mean come on.

I probably won't bother to upgrade. I only use the MBP for work and it does that just fine as is.

They will force you to upgrade by making things incompatible. then you can start another FN POS Macbook pro thread :)
