DeVante Parker: WR Louisville

Villain The Foe

If Parker stays healthy he will keep rising up draft boards.  Also, given the number of WRs selected last year, there is a good chance a first round talent drops to the top of the 2nd.  And it could be a guy like Parker.

He's one of my favorite targets in the draft.  I think he used to be a highly recruited basketball player as well in high school, so he does very well on jump balls, and has legit 4.3 speed.  His route running may need some work, but I think this guy blows up by the time we get to the combine, similar to a taller version of Odell Beckham this year.   Besides Cooper, who I like because he's also safer, I don't think I would mind Parker as the second WR off the board.  He's just as talented as White, Coates, Strong, with good hands.

i like him and I think he should be there in the 2nd but what about D.Funchess and D.Green-Beckham they are not bad. The combine will tell us more and hope he stays healthy.

I have a feeling DGB stays in school one year and then comes out. This is going to be two straight seasons of deep WR classes, so he can build himself up to a possible top 10 pick if he stays clean at OK.

Funchess is interesting, but I liked him a lot better at TE than WR. At TE, he was a matchup nightmare much like Graham, Gronk, or Thomas. But as a full time WR, he hasn't been great and I think the only reason he got moved to WR is because he's their only pass catching option and they wanted to see if they could get him one one matchups on the outside, while trying to run the ball. As a Michigan fan, can attest that their offensive philosophy is about as screwed as ours. I'd love to see what Funchess runs, because that might be the only thing holding him back.

i still think cooper and white are far better but parkers stat line last night against fsu was pretty impressive. 214 receiving yards

.

The first big reception for 71 yards was a clear offensive PI. Pushed the defender right over. FSU was daring them to throw playing soft zones because Dyer was killing them.

He had nice numbers but he left a ton of plays in the field.

He will be a mediocre pro. More of a chain mover than a playmaker.

He looked pretty good to me, made some adjustments on the ball, and showed some speed as well. The FSU defense is pretty tough, I think last year they held Watkins under 100 yards and the year before as well, while also having a possible first rd corner back.

Parker isn't perfect, he seems to have some concentration drops, especially over the middle, but he high points the ball well on jump balls, adjusts well, and has size/speed. I think the Miller from BR, had a scouting report yesterday saying he compares to Keenan Allen.

After Cooper (and DGB if he comes out), the WR class is pretty open and talented. I hope we grab someone in the second round this year. Essentially follow what the Jags did in last year's draft, but hopefully more success.

That would be great. Round 1. QB. Round 2. Devante Parker.

I really doubt he falls into the second though, this is one guy that I think will only rise at the combine, because he has great leaping ability and is very fast, apparently timed in the low 4.4s and high 4.3s in the 40 yard dash.  Combine it with the ability to high point the ball, a good hands catcher, size, and production, and I think he may even go top 12 in this draft.   I'd love for it to happen though, have him fall.  But I think for us to have him on the team and not take him in the top 5, would mean a trade down into the 10 area like the Browns did last year.
