Fire Idzik is out of hand

Listen, I was critical of Idzik back in April when he royally fumbled on the CB position, but I think the sentiment of firing him after only two seasons is way out of hand. The guy has only been here two seasons. Yes, he's made some extraordinarily stupid moves such as betting on Dmitri Patterson and Mike Goodson, and not signing a marquee corner to replace Revis. As far as a franchise QB goes, he picked the best QB in the 2013 draft in Geno, who has played hot and cold, much like the way he played in college. Every one of you said during the offseason that Smith deserved a chance to be the starter this season.

The fact is that it takes a while to build a contender, and he walked into a mess when he was hired. The Jets can have a very good offense now that they have receivers. While Michael Vick is not the future, he should do very well with a full week of practice with the starters. They need a solid cover CB, which I'm sure he will trade for or draft. He couldn't have predicted that Milliner would suck and always be injured.

I'd say, fire Rex for a host of obvious reasons, and keep Idzik hanging on by a thread for another season.

He'll be gone soon the owner will realize he is no longer needed after doing a crappy job this off season and there hopefully will be a new general manager. That press conference he did a few days ago was so pathetic and boring. I was listening to it on WFAN and Francesa was laughing all the way through it. It was a comedy show that Idzik put through. Talked in circles and said nothing reassuring to help the fan base stay positive. Its Not Rex Ryans Fault at all. He can only coach the roster and Idzik is the problem.

Idzik has honestly done a fine job...

His bad drafting is way over exaggerated (he's actually done a fine job) offensively he picked up the best WR in FA and got so very bad luck with corners.  In hindsight he should have gone after a top flight corner and I'm sure if he could do it over he would.

That press conference aside he hasn't been nearly as bad as people are making him out to be.

He does/did have a plan (I believe the Harvin trade was a Woody call, not Idzik) and if he's given a chance to follow it I think the Jets will be fine.  The talent isn't far off, expect for QB (which, of course, it's really the single most important thing on any team)

He's trying a build a long term successful organization and to panic one year into a rebuild is the worst thing a team can do.

How are the Jets even going to find someone to replace Idzik? No one worth their GM salt will want to come to GM the Jets.

That's kind of how we got here in the first place

I heard a story the other day how a high profile candidate for the Jets job pulled out of contention because 1) didn't want to trade Revis 2) didn't want Rex.

UGH. perhaps you have a different definition of Fine.

I refuse to judge a draft 8 games in or even a season and a half in.

He's certainly gotten some bad luck and made a couple of mistakes but he's not NEARLY as bad as people are making him out to be (aside from that horrendous press conference)

fair enough but you only have half a draft class left to judge. it's pretty ridiculous that idzik picked what 3 WRs and none of them could supplant david nelson?

This is a very smart man! John and Rex are going to take the Jets to the promise land, you will all see soon enough.

Just say no to Drugs. Sometimes, its best to not touch the keyboard after toking on a bong. After smoking rock, its best to sleep it off.

A lame duck GM should never ever be the one selecting a new HC. Start fresh, bring in a FOOTBALL Mind and not an accountant.

Great post.

We'll never know what the team would have looked like with Milliner, Patterson, and McDougal in the backfield but something tells me it would be a hell of a lot better than 1-7.

Or he looks like a completely incompetent drafter, and I'm tired of holding on to people for too long to see if maybe they'll grow into the job. This team needs to be in **** you pay me mode every year from here on out.

Every GM Rex has had or will ever have is going to look incompetent. Imo
