Just How Bad IS This Jets Team?

Very Close To The Worst Ever?

OK I know the 2014 Jets will have at least 1 more win that the '96 debacle but had it not been for the Raiders...

The #30 rated 2014 Jets Offense; Has scored 177 points so far this year  for a mindblowing average of 16.1 PPG

While The #30 rated 2014 Jets the "VAUNTED Rex Ryan defense" has surrendered 303 points for an average of 27.5 PPG

right now at 11 games in the Jets have a negative 126 point differential

The #27 rated 1996 Jets Offense scored 279 Pts at a 17.4 PPG clip

and the #29th rated defense of perhaps the worst Jets team ever allowed 454 Pts at a 28.4 PPG pace

that '96 team had a -175 Point differential

Yea I know what you mean John, what WILL we do when a team takes it down and scores on them right before the half in 9 out of the 1st 11 games?

if we restock the defense next year with all our draft picks and pick up the top 2 or 3 FAs, i'm sure rex can get back into the top 16.

It's like you expect Rex to be able to field a competent secondary without two former first rounders, pro bowlers, and over 20M in salary starting at CB... How can anyone do that?

i'd expect a defensive genius to figure something out, yes.

Its the worst group of talent I've ever seen accumulated on a single Football team.

Agreed, and you know if you go back and look at that 96 season they actually got better and closer to winning whereas this cast of characters have all but given up

FO doesn't have the numbers for this past week tabulated yet but through week 11 we had a DVOA estimated W/L of 4.6-5.4 and the hardest schedule in the league by a pretty significant margin. So not within this entire forum's aggregate shrieking distance of the worst ever.

Also, I went back and checked, and throughout Rex's tenure our estimated wins have accurately tracked our actual wins. Sometimes it really is as simple as sh*t happens.

There's a huge middle ground between only getting first rounders and starting street free agents. I couldn't pick #24 or #22 out of a lineup right now.

Coached by some of the most inept brains I have ever seen on a team.

Can someone tell the jets special teams, it is OK to take a touchback, as opposed to being pinned on the 8 yard line? Or, that when 1 person is essentially rushing the punt, don't just let him steamroll a block?

Absolutely pathetic

it's more than that. rex has also failed to develop his last 3 first rounders on defense.

edit: sorry meant secondary

The brains werent inept when there was talent.

But yeah, whats taking place right now is some of the worst coaching I've seen since Eric Mangini and Herm Edwards before him.  haha.  ******* Jets.

I can pinpoint the exact moment that Rex Ryan became STUPID. When he hired on Tony Sparano. And this was totally a Ryan hire, and there is not much else that can be stated about that. Rex was enamored with the wildcat, because HE could not defense it. If Rex can't defense it, it hs to genius, in his mind.

He couldn't only leave it at the wildcat. They then had to get real cute and bring Tebow in. Then it was all down hill.

This was Rex's foray into offense. It may be one of the dumbest ideas ever constructed around the Jets, aside from someone thinking Lou Holtz would transfer from college to pro ranks, and that Rich Kotite would be a great coach after what we saw in Philadelphia.

I have no soft feelings for Rex. He helped bring this upon himself.

Yeah, they do. It means they're not getting any better ie the guys drafted the past two years all suck besides Richardson.

The Bills are loaded with talent. 1st rounders and 2nd rounders all over the field.  5 top 10 picks.

They just have Kyle "the mush" Orton leading their team.

Bills were smart to get Orton. Unlike Rex who can never objectively evaluate his team--they are always "the best I ever had since being here"--Bills knew they had a shot to punch ticket to playoffs this year on back of defense and just needed someone to turn to at QB because they were willing to admit to themselves that EJ might not be 'the guy." For the Jets, every player is the best ever, and gets Rex's "full confidence" and when he is finally forced to pull a guy, be it from Idzik, total ridiculous incompetence, or public pressure or Woody or whatever, he acts like he just had to shoot his kid.

Orton sucks and you've been running around sucking off Sanchez and screaming for Vick.  lulza
