Cooper vs White...

First time watching Cooper was this past weekend against Auburn. I understand Auburn isn't a defensive powerhouse, but he looked like a man against boys. Doesn't seem to be a freak, but looks very polished. Playing top competition year round and playing for a top collegiate coach should give him the nod IMO.

I watch a lot of college football. I say neither but if I have to pick one it will be Cooper. White disappears in some games. The two Wide receivers I love is Jalen Strong out of Arizona St. and Dorial

Green Beckham. Now Beckham hasn't played all year since he is transferring to Oklahoma so he probably won't come out. He is as close to Megatron you going to find. He is 6:6 and has incredible catching skills. He played for Missouri .  He does have some baggage but rumors that Seattle wants him. That shows you something. Going back to Strong he is 6:3 1/2 and again incredible strong hands and toughness. Reminds me of Andre Johnson.   I like Cooper but the NFL is not college. If you watch him some of his big plays are due to his teammates but I do like him over White. There are other receivers in this draft that are really good like Duke Williams and Sammy Coates out of Auburn who really don't have a throwing QB.  There is also Ty Montgomery who is a specimen and Tyler Lockett who will be a good returner and slot receiver. Like I said I watch a lot of College which I the best to watch. I have to watch the bowl games and than the combine and I will list my top 20 receivers.  Again this year it will be a strong class like last year. Oh yeah the three receivers the Jets took in last years draft were far down on my board. The only one I liked as a sixth round draft pick was the receiver from Nebraska who I felt was a tough receiver who had a solid body and decent hands. Quincy is still on the practice squad and hope he develops. Shaq Evans will not be on this team next year.

I'm not even sure I can get up for this draft with the wide receivers.

I think last year I watched enough tapes from draft breakdown on the WR class, that I have trouble looking at WRs on TV now without seeing the little box to highlight them before a play starts.

I like Cooper better than White, and I'm not sure it's that close.  Cooper is not only safe, but he produces against some of the best defenses in the country when he's the No. 1 target for them.  I don't think he's going to be Megatron but the guy reminds me a lot of Reggie Wayne.  He'll be consistently good year in and year out.

I like Devonte Parker better than White mainly because I think Parker is more explosive and has a better track record, while playing in an offense that isn't the spread.   I like Jalen Strong as a possibility in the second round like Tony The Wiz mentioned.  He has good hands, with a nice speed/size combo, and is pretty much the Arizona State offense at times.  I watched one game where he went out, and the QB looked like he didn't know what to do.

Last year was such a nightmare in picking WRs because all three were really end of the draft guys.  Infact, guys like Brandon Coleman, who went undrafted, were better prospects than the guys we picked up.  The guy I really wanted was Moncrief, I think I compared him physically/production wise to Julio Jones as a best case scenario on JI last year.  Also, Beckham Jr, because some guy said Cooks was a much better prospect and recited stats, had to defend Beckham because I thought there was a chance he would make it to us.  God damn wins against Miami and the Browns.

yeah im with you on Moncrief when our pick in the 3rd was called I was so pist WHO!!!! we took a cb that would have been there in the 5th or 6th it worries me this draft is as good as last year I just hope we don't drop the ball again with the WRs.

Cooper is a professional WR.  He gives you a little bit of everything.  Sure hands, great routes, speed, big play ability, willing blocker...kid just does it all. He's going to be a stud.

The thing I like best about him, is he's stepped up to the plate every time he's had to face a true NFL prospect corner.  He had his way with Vernon Hargraves, Jalen Collins, Deshazor Everett and Senquez Golson.

He is going to get a TON of Antonio Brown comparisons and it's certainly warranted. Nothing truly elite about any of their skill-set, but seems to be a true professional when it comes to being a WR. Of course, those WRs need a professional QB, which this team needs to acquire.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but Cooper is overrated as a draft prospect right now. He's got no exceptional physical traits. Really good at playing wide receiver, running routes, catching the ball, etc - and all of that is great. But he's not a guy who's going to beat a defense when teams key in on him.

Not a guy who's going to consistently win in contested catch situations at the NFL level (strength, leaping ability, height, length all appear fairly average), and not a guy who's going to make a ton happen after the catch or get open with ease due to physical dominance either (again strength not a standout trait, explosiveness, speed, short area quickness not exceptional traits).

He's an extremely good football player who will almost certainly be a good NFL player due to his work ethic and technical abilities playing wide receiver, but I don't see how someone with his physical skill set profiles as an elite #1 caliber WR at the next level. And those are the guys who go top 5-10, which is where he's being projected right now.

We see WR's like this every year who have average size/speed/physical profiles but enough technical skill and athletic ability to beat up college players - people love them pre-draft and then they slide, get drafted in the second round, people call them steals, and then they're average #2 receivers in the NFL. Lately it's been the USC guys - Robert Woods and Marqise Lee.

I like Cooper, I think he's going to be better than those guys, I just mentioned, but much like Lee I think he'll ultimately be best served as a #2 WR in an elite pro offense where he can put up big numbers across from a true #1. Not sure how he beats double coverage. I saw a Reggie Wayne comparison and I think that's fair - Reggie has put up numbers for a long time playing on a really good offense and was a #2 for quite a bit of it - along with almost exclusively having an elite quarterback. Put in a comparable situation, I could see Cooper having a similar if not better career.

The Antonio Brown comp I don't think is fair - Brown's quickness/change of direction ability is on a completely different level than frankly anyone playing WR right now and a huge part of why he's having such a dominant season. Cooper's a smooth route ronner, but from a quickness perspective I don't think he can touch Brown.

Just my $.02.

Honestly didn't even think of Mcdougle as a possible prospect when I was researching before the draft.  The two guys I liked were Roby with our second pick (never happened, he didn't fall that far), Aaron Colvin (as an injury guy that could recover to be really good), and I believe EJ Gaines from Missouri later in the draft.

I still have no idea why we passed on Moncrief, he fit exactly what we needed.  He has size, speed, good hands, decent routes.  I think Moncrief would've been a first round pick had he been with a decent QB at all.  Bo Wallace was probably one of the worst QBs in college last year when it came to accuracy.  He had a great arm, but my god he would miss really easy throws like almost Tebow-ish.

And I have no idea why they passed on Bryant at all, God knows we had enough people looking at the Clemson program, and he also fit everything we needed.  Atleast with him, I think the fear that he was Stephen Hill 2.0 could've scared them away.  However, we invested a high second on Hill, and Bryant was a better prospect coming out, yet we didn't even invest a 4th in the guy?  That's just ridiculous.

well now Moncrief does have that great QB and he will make us pay for it in the future, and yes when that pick came in I was thinking wow he fell to us how great we would have filled a need and gotten a great player that can become a true #1 how sad is the jet way

Cooper (aka Roddy White v2) is as polished and safe a prospect as one could hope for at WR... but just about all the other blue chippers have higher ceilings.

Parker

Hardy

White

DGB

maybe even Strong..

I'd argue all those guys have the physical tools and traits to be more prolific than Cooper... but the reality is, at least 1 or 2 of them will end up being the next Robert Meachem, or James Hardy, or Jon Baldwin... it's like picking Christ's Cup in Indiana Jones and the last crusade...

Dude Cooper's ceiling is Jerry Rice

Maybe dumbest comment I have seen in a while, that said Jets should stay away from him
