we are getting scott linehan or similar. i am telling you guys. if the reports are true, and idzik is involved and won't be fired, he will NEVER bring in a strong willed coach with star power. he is going to avoid any challenges or power struggles by getting a stooge who is just happy to be given the shot at hc chair again. mark my words: idzik = stiff hc and you can bet on that.

If that clown is still here, and they whiff as he does on H.C and Q.B again. I may just take a sabbatical from the Jets for a couple of years.

IDZIK

Make sure you get your permission slip signed in triplicate before naming a starting QB. That's an Organizational Decision.

HARBAUGH

What the **** is a triplicate?

IDZIK

(ignoring him)

White copy is for your records, blue is for the file, and pink must be delivered to my office at least an hour before kickoff.

HARBAUGH

(wiping his ass with the forms)

And where does the brown one go?

It's obvious they're going to make a bad hire at HC when it's all said and done.  No good HC candidate is going to come to a team with a GM who could very well only be there for another season.  Then there's the fact that Idzik is terrible at evaluating talent, and I'd assume that lack of skill translates into identifying HC candidates as well.

Most likely we'll get Darrell Bevell and have to watch him try to make something out of Geno Smith for a season.  At least that scenario might yield a #1 overall pick and the house cleaning that Woody should be doing in this offseason.

Neither can I. But it looks like that's where we're headed.

Goddammit Woody. Do something right for once. Fire everyone.

But then the next hc has to pick the next gm right? That's how the nfl works? But worst comes to worst we have a former Jets GM who was demoted for incompetence to fall back on to handle the bulk of our drafting. Maybe we can consult him.

Seriously all this Bevell talk is nuts, Why would he come to NY when he could go to SF???

Aint happening

Bevell is probably going to Wisconsin.  Fine with me. I don't see the big deal with him.

The OP is right though. With Idzik staying, we'll be getting a subpar coach.  Nobody worth a damn is going to come work for that lanky rat-toothed motherf*cker.

Fixed title.

Rex Ryan witn bar fights; terrific.

Not sure Johnson grasps how the fan base has shifted from anger and disgust to apathy and indifference. If I still want to watch the NFL, RedZone is $50 for the season. Or I can do things with the family. And personally with a son playing varsity high school football in hopes of playing in college, I get enough football every fall. This "Braintrust" makes those decisions very easy.

I think even that dope has heard the roar from us Jet fans every time an opponent scores and we get one step closer to a top draft pick.  And you're right, I find myself being less and less interested in the team and game days.

straight up garbage. thats what we're getting with idzik at the helm. he wants a mouse not a lion in the HC chair.

They need to get a NY/NJ guy in here to deal with the media and fan base.  Some milquetoast Pacific Northwest mouse or midwesterner ain't gonna fly around here.

How would you even come near this type of conclusion?

If Idzik could work with Rex, a buffoon forced upon him by the owner, why wouldn't he be able to work with a capable, competent coach that he selects.  Nothing he has done suggests that his ego is huge and he needs attention or center stage.   You barely hear from him at all and that is the way he likes it.  He would probably be happy with a coach that can represent the team without being a clown and doesn't beg him to select only defensive lineman and defensive backs every freaking round.  The only offensive player Rex selected in the first round in the six years he has been here has been Sanchez, and Rex thought he was a gonna be a great leader and franchise QB.

Never thought of it that way but you're absolutely right - Rex Ryan's personality is the antithesis of John Idsux (can't believe he lasted this long) and Idsux will hire someone in his own image (just like the God he probably believes he is), slow, calculating and plodding, day late and a dollar short. Blechhhhh  :suicide2:

Totally agree

Rank speculation based on observation. Telling rex not to talk about his old man, neutering him completely, idzik doesnt like a big personality coach. Also a star hc aint coming here to deal with this clown who fields pure garbage.

My comment has as much to do with a HC with options not coming here. Someone like Harbaugh will be fellated by ten different teams but idzik will hold firm on his offer of one quicky handjob to try to get him. Also why would anyone stupid into a situation rumored to tie the hc hands behind his back as far as setting the freaking lineup.

It's incomprehensible to me that after the mistake of 2 years ago of forcing elements of a prior regime onto a new one that we're poised to make the same mistake twice, yet here we are...

2 years from now, Idzik will be fired, and the sub-par HC he hires (since we'll have the same problem we did trying to land a top GM 2 years ago) will be forced on the next GM, who will once again be sub-par.

And the beat goes on...

Not necessarily. It's the job of the GM to be able to select his HC, not the other way around, this is the proper order of how a functional team operates. It's quite possible that whatever coach idzik brings in, he trusts in player evaluation as well, which means we could very well see our drafting luck change, simply due to the fact our HC and culture of our team changes.  You really think Pryor would have been our #1 selection if Chip Kelly or say Jay Gruden were our HC, despite what Idzik said was his big board? I have a hard time believing that. Idzik will be tied to whomever he brings in and will most likely be sh*tcanned the same year they are.

We're going to have another season like this regardless of whether Idzik stays or goes and regardless of who the new HC is.  This franchise is in such bad shape right now it's going to take more than a season to get back to even a respectable 8-8.
